When wielding a two-handed weapon, your chances of getting a critical hit while bashing are 1/2 that of a blademaster or bonecrusher.
Two-handers should either have a 2x chance of landing criticals or should have a higher chance of dealing out the more powerful criticals.
THAT'S ALL KTHX.

Only if this is applied to cosmicfire, moonburst, cudgel, and staff too.

Two-handers do more damage while bashing as far as it's explained to me, why should they also do twice as much wounding? Half as much seems to balance things.
Unknown2005-08-03 00:16:42
I suggest that it does!
Actually, how does mage/guardian bashing damage compare to a warrior's? I know that early on (Levels 1-30) Mages blow Warriors away in bashing.
And wiccans don't need any more help.

You have a 1/2 chance of dealing a 2x more powerful critical. It's mathematically equivalent, in terms of total number of hit points of damage dealt per unit time.

If things are as they should be, 2 one-hand swings will, on average, equal one two-handed swing in damage. Due to criticals, though, One-handers have an easier time bashing.
Also, two-handers already do twice as much wounding. I'm talking about VS. Denizens.

Ahh. Gwylifar just kicked my ass.
I'm done.
I'm done.

Nah, I'm just (mis)quoting Roark, he's the genius here.
Athalas2005-08-03 00:29:02
2 handed damage while bashing isn't equal to one handed bashing for me, even without criticals. With a 336 damage axe it takes 9 swings to kill 1 aslaran warrior. It takes 6 combos to kill a aslaran warrior using 333 combined damage broadswords. Needless to say, a poor axelord like me is reduced to using broads while bashing!

Yeah, it really does feel like there's still a cap on 2H weapons. I know forging weapons with 480 is pretty achievable if they're 1h, but I'm hard pressed to even forge a claymore with 460. It also still feels like there's a damage curb going on, as Athalas describes it. Needless to say, I won't be runing anything until this is worked out.

Eh? I hope you meant 380 and 360. I've forged probably a hundred claymores, and nothing has been above this in damage. Unless they changed the forging outcomes in the last couple months?
460 is like having 2 230 damage flails. That's absurd.
Singollo2005-08-03 01:55:06
I meant totals, after dividing by 2 or 2.2.
Olan2005-08-03 01:57:34
oh, ok. My bad then. Yeah, those numbers are fine then.
If my memory serves, mine is around 480, 477 I think. That's dividing damage by two and precision by 2.2.

I've also noticed decreased effectiveness at bashing as a Pureblader than as a Blademaster. But I do not think giving two handers a increased chance of criticals is the answer. Then again, a solution should be found, but I would rather that the problems that two handers have in actual combat be resolved first.
Unknown2005-08-03 02:39:49
Well, you can't kill two mobs in one double swing anymore.
