I was just wondering if anyone knew when to expect the Druids skill to come out or if there will even be one and if so what it may be.

....Need I quote Estarra's 8-10 posts on the subject of skills.

When it's coming? Maybe. Will there be one? Maybe. What is it? Ricemaking.
Richter2005-08-03 21:17:06
You'll like it. happy.gif Give it time to come out.

Note: Richter always likes to sound like he already knows most about things like that tongue.gif
Richter2005-08-03 22:29:51
I pick up bits and pieces here and there, over long periods of time. I could be completely wrong.

Doubt that I am though.
Unknown2005-08-03 22:35:10
You missed the post then that said every post that pesters about it sets the deadline back two weeks?

Okay, so there wasn't such a post, in fact a post to the opposite of that, but it's the standard thing to say tongue.gif

It'll happen when it happens. Good to be eager and all, but I'm sure someone up there is either aggravated/amused by all this biggrin.gif I'd rather see a fully completed, decent skillset without bugs rather than something half-assed because people rushed it.
Richter2005-08-03 22:36:04
Well, you -know-, Hajamin can pump one out a week. happy.gif

I'd like the ones we have to be decent. glare.gif
Richter2005-08-03 23:11:10
Telepathy is decent, and it took him a week, reportedly. biggrin.gif

Subj: My Brief Awakening

Not often do I wake from my great slumber, but this day I have. Not
often do I concern myself with the worries of the realm, but this day I
will.

I see two of my children thrive, the Moonhart Mother Tree and Master
Ravenwood Tree. This pleases me. I see many of their offspring spreading
out under their respective forests. This too pleases me. But I also see
the rapacious greed of civilization devouring my smaller children, and
tricking the land itself under deceptive illusions. This does not please
me!

Thus, I give to the caretakers of the forests, the druids of the realm,
the song to awaken my smaller children to spread across the land. Accept
my gift and use it well.

Now, I drift back to sleep for yet another age...

Penned by my hand on the 12th of Shanthin, in the year 123 CE.

The start of the updates?

Woo, nice. I'll have to make sure to log on tonight as soon as I can. smile.gif

Heh, Telepathy was A) a special case and B) Hajamin actually spent quite a while getting the very complicated background stuff for Psionics set up so there would be a framework for the individual abilities to be in.
Estarra2005-08-03 23:31:03
Regarding psionics, though it may have been quickly coded, that DOES NOT account for the time to design it, which was considerably longer than a week.
Terenas2005-08-03 23:36:20
Psionics was great, but perhaps it wasn't fully tested beforehand. Mages with Telekinesis can drain all of someone's willpower in less than 2 minutes (twice as long as before, yay!) unhindered or that Geomancer can stops virtually all movement out of the room, making it all but impossible to escape Chasm.
Richter2005-08-03 23:36:50
Ah, well, I'm impressed either way.

All the new ability does is raise saplings in a forested location. Natural forest = permanent. It grows. At the end of 10 years, if it isn't mulched/cut down, it dies. If it's a forestcast forest room, it lasts 1 hour, and prevents mages from flooding/tainting. However, they can die in 4 chops.

Isn't that exactly what was needed though?

Edit: In fact, if that is true, it makes Druid demesnes even harder to take down than Mages'. Rather than realitycheck/equilibrium/forcecast, its chop/balance/chop/balance/chop/balance/chop/balance/forcecast.

Edit edit: ninja.gif 'ed by Shamarah. Nuts! I think its a nice solution, all it needs is chop adjustments. Otherwise it will encourage the dark city/commune, light city/commune team idea.
Shamarah2005-08-03 23:46:11
Druids definately needed a terrain equivalent... but this is like four terrains in that you have to chop 4 times but it only takes one dispell to get rid of terrain... seems unfair, meh.

Among other things, yes. Someone was predicting this was the opening of the new skillset. I was debunking that belief.
