Window versus Scry

I think it'd be neat if Window gave the local area versus the exact room name. Currently, both Scry and Window do the same thing and both can be enchanted. It would add variety, and make it worthwhile to have both scry and window.

I'd agree to this, but only if farscout works the same way it does currently.

Otherwise it'd be a severe downgrade to an already crappy class (YES, CLASS, NOT ARCHTYPE, CELESTINES R OVARPOWARDZ). Seeing you arseholes across the globe is one of my few strengths. (Yes, I'm biased.)
Shorlen2005-11-02 15:56:31
Then Astrogaze would have to do something different as well, so it isn't just a copy of scry...
Jack2005-11-02 16:06:38
Yeah, astrogaze @target allows you to see the inside of the targets arse.
Sylphas2005-11-02 17:49:47
Astrogaze isn't enchantable, though, so it doesn't make a redundant enchantment.

Munsia! the little kids may be banded from the game, but they still may be lurking around the forums.

Edit:ok, something useful for the thread, I think it would be nifty and window and scry would be differant, I know I don't often know the room names in places I've never been to, like the catacombs, or magnagora, but a general area would be useful to me. I'd most likely end up getting both enchanted if this came about.
Unknown2005-11-02 18:52:25
I don't get the idea. So how would they be different again?
Terenas2005-11-02 18:56:49
Scry would show you the exact room name, but not the area. Window would do the opposite. This would boost enchantment sale for both Mage and Guardian enchanters.
Corr2005-11-02 19:04:49
And why would I pick an echantment with the area name but not the room name over the room name?

There are enough zmud maps out there that I wouldn't need the area name enchantment.
Unknown2005-11-02 19:10:47
Because the exact room name would only work for local area, I assume from the first post.
Terenas2005-11-02 19:11:31
Are you kidding me? Why do you think so many want farsight here? Because more often than not people won't know the area someone is in. Farsight is one of the best Vision abilities from other IRE games, hence why Narsrim is asking for this change.
Corr2005-11-02 19:20:51
I use to always use thirdeye and after a couple of weaks new exactly where everyone was and what area they were in.

But I guess there is a market out there.

Sure is. I could never tell from when someone was in Rockholm, Angkrag or Southgard. Or the various (for example) grain silos...like there's two in Estelbar and Acknor I never got right, you know? Knowing the local area is good stuff.
Ashteru2005-11-03 00:46:58
To discern Angrak from Southgard and Rockholm is actually pretty easy, all mines have some words suggesting evilness in them, like 'murky' or 'spiderwebbed' or something...at least from the general Idea. tongue.gif
Vix2005-11-03 01:10:10
There's practically no difference in the mundane things like "A Coal Shaft." Rather annoying sometimes.
Sylphas2005-11-03 07:22:56
I need to tweak my View system and build a new database to color room names based on area. In Achaea, I had every room in Eleusis, all of Delos, most of Shallam, and at least half of Ashtan and Cyrene in my database, so usually about 80% of my View list gave me nicely coloured targets for different areas.

It wouldn't solve the same name problem with the mines and such, but it'd be a nice upgrade to Thirdeye for me. Just have to strike a nice balance between being comprehensive and not slowing my computer to hell.
Thorgal2005-11-03 07:49:23
Window working like Farsight would be so sweet!

Yes, farscout would remain as is and give the exact room location. This is something to benefit everyone not downgrade guardians (who could window/farscout and see the area + exact room name if they so desired).

One of the problems that I don't people understand is that in a lot of crucial areas, there are rooms with the same damn name or close to it. I once teleported into Glomdoring because someone was "Beneath the Verdant Canopy" or whatever... there is a room in the Arsyian Isles with the *exact* same name.

Plus, if it would boost enchantment sales and everyone would get something out of it... what would be the loss? Everyone would win-win.
