The breath of the desert is so thick this eve
Casting its hands against my face
Caressing my lips like a lover lost
Making holy this place
The sun over head brings about its evanescent glory
Incorporeal and yet so tangible
Beckoning my soul to rise into its grasp
Child-like and paternal
Deep blues mix with a glory of crimson reds
Painting a picture so otherworldly
Like a question still to be answered
By the desert's melancholy
The silence is almost breath taking
While I watch the sun set to be replaced by night
The warmth descending in its journey
And give way to the throne of the prophet's sight
You walk ahead and I'll stand here
Remembering and coelescing
You'll say, "It can't happen."
And yet with golden castings
The desert's rose lays in my hands
Its petals the color of life
Bound by eternity and fate
In its depths, I see your eyes
The night lays thick against the ground
On this starless twilight- you'll be my wanderer
And I, your desert sand
Together, we shall be the ponderers
Its almost morning now
The desert is awakening from her slumber
Your breath has stopped upon my lips
And I raise my eyes to cast them on the distant thunder
Let the desert watch
She shall be our priest and our sister
The coyote- our brother
And together, we will disappear into tomorrow
In this desert of sand and sun.

I do love your poems, they remind me of things I used to read and write. I wish that muse was still with me .
