_NEW_ (EDITED) - wanted to give suggestions visible to the thread so you dont have to cruise the whole thing
Long ago in this thread I conceded to not remove the cubix, and I have been trying to push alternative ideas, and some have been suggested.. I am not saying make it as villages, with 50 guards everywhere, I am saying to make a challenging change, with more player conflict.
Example:1, removing the who list would make the plane about paranoia, you have to squint or take time to window/scry someone, where/who defenders would come, and most likely it would resolve in close combat, instead of hit and runs... (thirdeye wont be useless it spots invisible, and if gem of cloacking only removes you from who list, make it so they can't be scryd/windowed, but they can be spotted from eyesight, (with thirdeye))
Example:2 Redesign the plane, make it for example 3 levels, Tower, inner courtyard, outer courtyard with two, three sideways, cubix could take you to inner courtyard, there could be maze + some guards, but since there are so many entrences you couldnt be able to put guards everywhere... It could be a feat to get into the tower. Where you can coordinate with tactic, reguarding where opponent is heading, Where they have their defence, perhaps even make sidequests to 'enable'/'disable' some defence, like a bridge/tunnel (dont take it literly, but it fits the courtyard idea, but since its like 'heaven/hell' I know it wont be those words)
Example:3 (Nasrims) The cubix was purchased by the owner for personal use. Thus, only the owner should be able to use the cubix; furthermore, the cubix should not allow the transportation of mass groups. It should only poof the person who owns it.
Example:4(Blastron) Should not be able to take you to an area you are enemied to.
Yes, there are ways to get around this, namely having someone else lead you there, or have someone else cubix in and act as a tesseract target, or whatever, but it would stop the problem of people spontaneously jumping in and out of places they're trying to raid.
Example:5 (Eyod) Only workable at a nexus or a rift
Example:6(Nasrim) Make the supernaturals indoor
Example:7(Avaer) Aether Lodestone (250 credits)
This remarkable rock will anchor the aether pathways in your location when wielded. Anyone attempting an extra-planar escape will be unable to overcome the attraction of the lodestone. Nexus and Rift aetherpathways are naturally resilient to this effect. Thus, anyone using touch cubix/tesseract/astrology astral jump/furniture gohome/etc will fail to do so until they leave the room the possessor resides in. This wouldn't affect the TRANSVERSE command (or maybe it would delay it? Though that would make it cost more.)
Example:8(Vix) Moving the cubix entrances to the Pool/Megalith.
Example:9(Amaru) Cubix could cost power, 5 per touch
Example:10 Cubix 3 second balance ghosting then teleport
That way you can still throw a eyesigil to bring him out?.. However i'm aware that a good counter comes up then with eyesigil on ground.. unless can make it specificlly work even if eyesigil on ground..
Hope I didnt skip anyone.. I think that be all in the thread..
I am not trying to _remove_ conflict, I am trying to add it, And I know there's always the waterplane you could go and raid, but still same problem there.

Turn Celestia into a fort? O_o That's silly!
Unknown2005-08-18 17:54:05
I did not mean that literally, get the picture of it instead..
It could be _something_ that takes 'time' to get to, Not where you can EXIT/ENTER/RAID on will..
Perhaps make it 3 levels to go through,
one the outer courtyard (dont know what to call it but, call it outer courtyard, for classic sence)
one is inner courtyard
one is the tower
for example a use with cubix is that it would take it to 'inner courtyard'
instead of having to walk through the outer courtyard to get there
and the tower is where the main angels are..
Note _DO_ not take this literly, about some courtyards in Celestia or a tower, Just get the picture..
How the tactic would be applied.

Or you could just leave as is, learn to fight, and defend your plane?
Unknown2005-08-18 18:26:21
Im with Revan just leave it as it is, i know im getting other celestines more into combat and in Celestia's defence it wont be long till we get people actually caring to protect it.
Gwylifar2005-08-18 19:12:58
Everyplace already is somewhere that takes time to get in and out of. It's just that they sell a device that circumvents that, but only a handful of them are out there. They can't redesign the game around them -- particularly since those people paid through the nose to get that ability. You'll just have to get used to the strategies it requires. Knowing the points they'll arrive at, for instance.
But the bigger question is, when they leave, is that really a failure? I know you're thinking "but they'll only come right back" and you're right. But even if you hindered them (and there's lots of ways to hinder a cubix-user), and killed them, they'd still only come right back. That fact is woven deep into the weft of Lusternia, it's a fundamental thing. You can't ever stop anyone from doing anything, particularly by force, unless they let you. Don't mistake this particular encounter with that fact for the problem; it's at best a symptom.

I would hardly say that be the answer, for it, More a personal attack I take it as
and we had the people to hold him off eventually, but then he 'Cubixed' and left, then awhile later
he got back with it and started again...
And I forgot to mention, throw the cubix out of the game and give 100% refund..
Athana2005-08-18 19:41:41
There are plenty of things that stop you from touching cubix.
Please don't take my cubix away.

No you didn't, you've said that twice already.
It's not going to happen. Let's say there are 20 cibixes bought ever. 1000cr = about $300.
ARE YOU REALLY ASKING THE ADMINISTRATION TO PAY OUT $6000 BECAUSE YOU'RE WHINING?
Unknown2005-08-18 19:52:29
I'm not saying its impossible to disable him in fight, I'm saying its impossible to stop him from going
there, and leaving, pretty much.. and then you require a player guard there, sure I heard celestians get
warning message, but thats pretty much the only warning you get.. its not like npc guards rush to aid either..
or other angels that help eachother..
I realy dislike the idea of someone entering in a instant a key area for someones territory..
could make it to enter a step before, so you actully have time to defend.

Dont need to CAPS, I am asking to give them 'credits' not real life currency
And honestly, is it only me that think they are a issue?.. I dont think so

They are 2000 credits.
Soll2005-08-18 19:58:20
2000 credits per, actually. So $12000.
Richter2005-08-18 20:01:26
SO $12000. I NEED TO USE CAPS FOR THESE COMMENTS, BECAUSE I FIND THEM SILLY.
Yeah, I figured he'd say reimbursement in credits. Here's the answer I had:
When you buy that many credits, you don't do it for the heck of it. you buy $600 worth of credits for a -reason-, be it an artifact, or to trans several skillsets, or to add 66.6 rooms to a manse. People wouldn't want credits back, because they'd have just been screwed out of their money. Sure, everyone could use 2000cr, but that's not what they bought them for.

well my proposal still stands, I dont care how much credits they cost, its just wrong with such a item
with no way to stop it, except confronting the person, when he can leave wherever, pretty much whenever, and come whenever he can.
just give them ingame credits, no need to pay out the money
-----
EDITED, after richers post..
Ok, but they need to be tweaked then.

Broken arms stop it, I assume. Prone does. Being inside does. Web/impale/vines does. Stun does. Quite a lot does. *shrug* Just get a Celestine novice to webwhore.

Irrelevant we did, but that novice died in one hit..
And it requires direct confrentation
Richter2005-08-18 20:07:48
Really, this is the first time someone's made a stink about it. I didn't think it was a huge problem, because so few people could afford it.
Unknown2005-08-18 20:08:52
I did come up with the proposal to have an artifact that can temporarilly negate a cubix or any form of teleportation if a victim is hit with it. Thus preventing "hit and run" tactics.
That would probably be the only fair way to negate such powers. Nerfing the cubix would not be considered a happy thing to those who spent the credits.

Ialie2005-08-18 20:09:04
why not just put a load of guards near the cubix exit?
