Ok first i admit this is from Discworld(the MUD)
but has anyone thought of having some shops that have players employed in them(hehe shops nerfed)?
In Tarnachs on dw we went out and collected/made various spell components then brought them back and stored them in a five room shop. around the clock people would walk in, ring a bell sending a message to everyone with an employee badge on(if none were around they would get a message telling them so and a mob would walk in)
The till and stock room were logged to prevent stealing and players were payed so much plus a bonus based on the takings
i was just wondering if something like this could be implemented here, perhaps the comms shops?
Heres how i see it
Every comms shop have buy and sell deactivated. a few rooms would be added and the trade minisitry would be put incharge.
Novices and the like who often run out of money could apply for work there (the more working there the lower everyones pay)
The shop would be like most guildhalls, in that the entrance only accepts employees of the shop. after the entrance there would be a room with a logged til which money can be taken from and put into. with something that employees can write sales in.
off this room is an employee room and a stock room with containers for everything. if anyone puts something in or out it can be tracked as to prevent theft(if someone were to manage to sneak in they could be hunted down).
The employee room could be a place where they can idle and the like out of the way, also resigning and promotion apps would be done there. off that room would be the office where the managers review/accept/deny applications.
employees who bring in comms would help everyone because they could come in cheaper than if they buy them off someone else thus raising the bonus for that pay period (i'd say half a year or seven weaves)
just an idea, please no flames, but just think, if it's brought in maybe the people who can't afford to buy credits just to sell them might get some money (sorry thats just annoying me right now)

The problem with that is that someone would make an alt, steal everything, and either give it to another organization, or just suicide with it all. Or they'd just take it and not care about repercussions.

hmm the only way around that is to require that they have graduated and be a member of that commune/city.
though this sort of excludes novices, that or make it a small organisation where they have to work for however long as a gatherer before they can enter the stock room.
So the employees have three ranks
Gatherer
Server
Manager
also the shops would be part of the city/commune so any character that steals from them could be enemied, and have a public post informing everyone of what they did. they would be guildless/homeless and if they give what they stole to an organisation that could be in danger enemy status aswell.
