Nature Blend

Back to Common Grounds.

Dark forest path.
The bright sun shines down, blanketing you with its life-giving warmth. The
forest floor here is a chaotic mix of rotting leaves, dead wood and long
grasses. Bare tree branches reach out only a few feet above the ground,
clutching hands draped in dank, decaying mosses. The ashes and oaks that grow
here are rotten and dank, split in many places and spewing mould and fungus
from every pore. Casting darkness all around, a shadow totem thrusts up from
the ground, chilling the air. A hemlock sapling clings tenaciously to the
ground here.
You see exits leading southwest and northwest.

You must be in the forests to blend into the foliage.

Great Southern Highway approaching Glomdoring Forest. (road).
The corrosiveness of the taint sickens the land. The bright sun shines down, blanketing you with its life-giving warmth. The highway continues its path
through these blighted lands, parallel to the Southern Mountains. The road
itself is smooth and dusty, marked by the passage of the feet and hooves of the
thousands who use this well-travelled path. The road here crosses from the
barren, soot-covered Blighted Lands into the edges of Glomdoring Forest. The
few trees that surround the road are white skeletons, dead and dried husks. The
forest rising up into the southern mountains however almost glows with a
sinister, corrupted mockery of natural life.
You see exits leading northeast and northwest.

You kneel and place a palm on the ground, imploring nature to hide you from
prying eyes.

Yeah, the coders will fix it after they take a good sleep from debugging that exploit.

So I'm not going insane after all... laugh.gif

It works in taint, yet doesn't work on the Ethereal....
Jitwix2005-08-25 12:40:26
For me it works in the swamp, but not in the forest...not even the prime Serenwilde.

I am a mugwump...

I believe it actually works anywhere but forest locations/ethereal forests, FYI.

As far as I can tell, yep. Quick! To the Taint! It will hide us! dry.gif

EDIT: Also, it vanishes the minute you move. At least, it does so now.

Doesn't vanish for me. I just used it, moved, still got it. :huh;
Shiri2005-08-25 12:54:43
I find it can be ACTIVATED outside of forest, but only shrouds you IN forest. I tested it with Moggy and Dumihru and that's what they came up with, anyway.

Woah, now that's weird.

You can only turn it on outside the forests.
If you then enter the forests, you keep it until you leave.
If the first room you move into is not a forest, you lose it.

So, looks like there's a small error in the code to turn it on (== instead of != or some such?) where it makes sure you *aren't* in the forest before activating, but the code for it staying up is correct.

In my opinon, the fact that you lose the defence the minute you leave a forest location is REALLY ANNOYING, especially during demesne wars x_x Why not just make the defence go inactive like Night totem? Instead, if we want to use it to shroud, we need to turn it back on every few seconds whenever we accidentally enter a room that isn't a forest =\\

It's in the envoy report. No idea why they made the change if it wasn't based on the envoy report, odd coincidence. Ah well.
Unknown2005-08-27 08:03:43
I believe the difference is that you don't actually lose the defence but it just doesn't work while you're not in the forest... as opposed to camouflage which got stripped the moment you left the proper terrain.

At least that's what I get from the announcements on it, I haven't gotten to test it....
