Training stuff

i was just wondering if it would be possible for guilds to buy training rooms with something that they can target pvp skills on.

so any guild member could go in, and fight a "construct" which they can set some basic things like race and level. then they fight the construct using their various skills.

heres where it would get complicated
it would be fun if it could react to some things like standing when knocked down, writhing when bound.
The idea being that if it can then give a response on how much damage is done, how it was effected by something.

i guess the main point is to give people the chance to try some things out without having to worry about finding someone to spar who doesn't totally obliterate them instantly

as usual you find something good in there your ahead of me

I'd just ask a guildmate to spar, and agree to practice a bit and not totally annihilate the other.

heh i do that but it's annoying if you get booted and have to pay to get back in

Heh, this would be a massive project to code, so don't expect to see it any time soon.

heh...

gnt Would anyone like to help me see how much a haymaker with non-poisoned 160 dmg plus blades does to you when I also have + 19 strength? Also what would happen if I were to try to judgement you afterwards...

lets try that...

It would be fun to be able to "spar" constructs in your training hall with little to no risk of actually dying yourself, but it definitely shouldn't be telling you how long something took or how much damage you dealt.

There have been hints in Achaea for a century that some day mobs would have more complex attacks and allow you to attack with more variety. You're supposed to be able to web a goblin or aeon a vampire... some day. More interesting than just whack, whack, whack, dead. Still, I enjoy hunting in Lusternia far more than in Achaea, simply because of the many boosts I can find for my stats and the interesting ways in which creatures die now.

I made something like a subset of this in Rapturescript in Aetolia for the Sentinels, a "training elk" (it was a bit kelki clockwork). He eventually got named Herman. I wonder if they still use him.

Well, why not set up some sort of clan or something IG to try and do this? I mean, most guilds that I've tried out (on different characters - I don't like to drastically change my character's RP without a really stellar reason to do so) require at least basic combat training, so the guilds could set up a sort of 'test clan' so the members could experiment with their skills. Essentially, the clan would be a matchmaking service for people who want to try out their skills before they must rely on them in PvP.

Most guilds do have a fighting clan that could cover that function.

One option would be for people to actually join SPARWHO. I almost never see people on there, any when I do there's only one other person. Turning it on doesn't necessarily mean you're obligated to spar with anyone who asks, just that you're interested in sparring with someone. Turn it on people. It what it's there for.
