...over-nerfed much, d'you guys think? I wonder how long these will even last, given that Acknor took 1 hour...one hour of influencing in two weeks. And no sign of another village almost a week later.
Is this bugged, or is it meant to be this quiet?

Paavik was the very last village to revolt pre-changes taking effect. The last change to village influencing ANGERS ME. Village influencing is the most unique and perfect feature of Lusternia, and by FAR the most fun. I'm so annoyed that it has been nerfed into never happening.
I kept careful, careful track of villages, learning to predict exactly when they would revolt. I just had gotten the hang of it when the changes took effect, but here were my predictions (I had predicted the previous three villages to within an OOC day of the revolt, so these times should be very accurate):
Days villages WOULD HAVE revolted if village influencing wasn't nerfed into the ground:
Delport: 8/23
Acknor: 8/27
Rockholm: 8/28
Angkrag: 8/30
Dairuchi: 9/3
Estelbar: 9/12
Stewartsville: 9/13
Shanthmark: 9/13
Southgard: 9/16
Paavik: 9/20
Okay, so, looking at it closer, Acknor was only a week late, remainig loyal for 28 days instead of 21. That's a 33% increase - quite a bit, but Delport still hasn't revolted. It'd been 41 OOC days since Delport revolted last. Delport usually takes about 23-24 OOC days when Magnagora holds it, given Mag's political/economic status. So, that's a nearly 100% increase. That's absurd. It angers me. And it shows just how RANDOM the new system is. Or maybe they increased the effects of other, harder to track factors, such as comm quests and raiding. But we've been slaughtering the citizens of Stewartsville for a long time, and Dairuchi keeps getting raided too. Neither has revolted. Same with Rockholm.
So.... what the heck is up with this? Was Village Influencing turned off, but the orcs of Acknor were just so rebellious they decided to revolt belatedly anyway?
Please bring village influencing back

I like it, and it should definitely stay as it is.. I really hope villages revolt slower permanently

Agree completely, village influencing has always been one of the places I felt most attracted to the realms by, a periodic chance to test the organizations against eachother in combat without resorting to raids which end up just getting some group or another angry. One of the reasons I've personally thought the gorgog quest was becoming another faethorn was because griefers like Narsrim or regular raiders and the like didn't have any outlet for such things. Personally between helping the novices and guildmates, learning as much about the realm and whatnot in general, villages were something I looked forward to each day
Bau2005-09-10 10:25:17
Maybe the villages are happy as they are?

Then we should go in and appeal to their leaders to reconsider!

well of course you like it, however you WOULDN'T like it if Celest/Seren had most of the villages and Mag had 0 when these changes were put into effect, this reminds me of the changes to faethorn, wiping out the ladies Serenwilde collected, just POOF! no more ladies for you, sorry for working hard, get them all back over the course of real life months please. ah oh well, i DO like the way faethorn is, nice and slow, but village influencing... I finally am able to do it commune wise/skills wise and POOF if dissapears, it's upsettting

hehe I see it now:
Malicia turns to Chik, "Are you sure you want to stay with the stinky Mag's? I mean the DO stink, and erm ya there is the oppression and raping your females and eating your babies in the night... and all that stuff, and they SMELL too!"
Chik tilts her head, and sniffs, "hmm well they do smell, but I was considering the Empire of Magnagora, come talk to me later"
Gregori2005-09-10 10:58:03
I actually like it too. One of the things that made me wish I had other plans that night was logging in to find a village revolted... again. I like the fact it isn't happening every week and there has been a serious downtime.

Oops. I would have, but I was copying it out of READNEWS POLITICS ####.
Should fix that in the time you use blaming me! *peer*
Lisaera2005-09-10 11:03:17
There are people that use parsing to create repositories of news posts and I don't want to screw them over, else I would have convinced Estarra to let me do that long since.

I'd say something along those lines, but with a bit more eloquence. Chik would then be moved by my plea and order her people to cast aside any allegiances to Magnagora and pledge their services to the Serenwilde! Oh yeah.. just like that.
Shamarah2005-09-10 12:33:21
I agree. It's so boring waiting for them to revolt; village influencing was one of the most exciting parts of the game. Why was this even changed? I'd much prefer for them to be revolting faster - I mean, I play this game because I want to PLAY the game, as in, not just sit around...
Daevos2005-09-10 12:47:41
I like that they are taking longer to revolt, but I still dislike the fact that the actual revolt is random.
Unknown2005-09-10 12:55:24
The change makes things far more realistic, I'm loving it.
Nokraenom2005-09-10 13:57:45
I like it as well. It's nice to not have to be rushing off to influence this or that village every time I log on. Village influencing is probably one of the most fun parts of the game, but I would like to play Lusternia as a whole, and not Village Influence: The MUD.
Saran2005-09-10 14:17:06
I've never been able to do village influencing in any way (gah can't even resurge people).
what would be nice is that when the other cities and commune are released if we could get a few more villages (trying to keep the current ratio villages:cities/communes)
i was thinking about this when i was at "work". it would be cool if they were linked to a hidden section of ethereal and not actually linked to the basin in anyother way thus calling gate weaves/distortions in to play.

1. It's more realistic. They don't change their minds every five seconds.
2. It makes it so that I don't log on to a villiage battle Every time.
3. People whined about it being too short, now we're hearing it's too long. Shush.
