I've been perusing the forums and see a few posts complaining about how their mages can't use headgear as armour. Then one bright boy(or girl) will suggest that they use hats and hoods as armour. What type of hoods do you guys wear?!? Since when will a hood protect one from a mace or broadsword splattering your grey matter all over the room? And please don't reply "Why, a magically imbued one of course." I don't want to be a dick, but I think the designers do have a little bit of a clue as to what they are doing.

Actually, greatrobes -are- magically imbued to be made into armour, so any hoods that were on the robes...

Hmm, can our antlers give us head protection?

Uh...a magically imbued one. Dude, that's what they use for the rest of their armour...

Arrrg! My inner-Orclach longs to crush all puny, magical whinners .
Fine, you win, but I still can just see mages running around in floppy hats that deflect heavy bits of sharpened metal when I close my eyes, and I don't like it.

Syntax: ENCHANT
If a piece of clothing is classified as a great robe, then it can be enchanted
to increase protection against physical damage, much like a blacksmith forges
armour. Keep enchanting it until it can be enchanted no further for the
greatest results. Each such enchantment drains power.

I'm making up my slight stupidity with a joke. C'mon, a krokani bashing a mage weary an amazingly floppy hat and having his mace bounce off has got to put a smile on your face.

Well when I think of a blast of fire engulfing a target, it should only leave charred bones once it is done. *Isn't imagination great!*

i'm assuming that you also want it so that you get amazing defense against magic?
if we try to put some logic to magic then we can say it's not physical and therefore the only way to defend against it is with a counter-spell. I'm not 100% sure about armor but better armor does give some magical protection right?

No. Depending on the type of damage, differnt things help.

but for example cosmic fire could penetrate armor and only affect whats underneath
