Ok *prepares defs for shorlens attack*
I was thinking about ic suicides, this is really the only way to give a character an ending and is impossible if you've bought credits (or the scroll lies again)

so two commands that might be nice

PASSAWAY

Allows your character to die for what ever reason you specify, this death will preserve your honours and will ammend them with the day you die and the reason given.
This can be anything really from a stroke, to dying in your sleep

PERMABLE ON|OFF

This allows you to try and have your character killed in battle (or an organised situation) it can be toggled so that you can try and choose who/what sends you on through to the great beyond.
It ammends the date of death and who killed you to your honours (allowing for a family member to seek vengence)

Both methods are only reversable until the link with the living is extinguished and only by resurgem or immolation (any raising technique).

Also i need to consult with the divine a little (hmm who to pester) but i was thinking (this is where i'll loose ya) but perhaps a little afterlife thing.
My thoughts are that it would be a small area divided with an area for each guild connected to an area for each commune connected to a neutal area.
Each guild area would contain a wall where the fallen could scribe their names.

Also those who transed many skillsets, and got many honours lines could enter a private room where the living could seek their guidance.(etc) though the idea is it's a great honour to die and become a spirit guide for your guild/city/commune.

This could also be fun for plotty stuff as some dead could be asked to relay some information from the divine that they don't want to directly involve them (just trying to broaden possible plot beginings)

but this all hinges on if there is actually mean't to be an afterlife or direct reincarnation
*finishes raising his defs*

It just doesn't strike me as Lusternian. When you die, your thread is rewoven, and you're given a new life.

Except in cases where something keeps you from passing on into a new form - for instance, ancestral spirits that linger in the Wilde, or the spectres on Old Celest.

That was to the bit about an afterlife kind of thing. As to the perm death - it strikes me as something that wouldn't be looked upon in decent light, the same as suiciding a character - something impossible for a character whom has bought credits.

I actually do kind of like the permadeath/pass away option, though I agree with Erion that the afterlife idea is less than Lusternian, even if it is interesting and compelling by its own merits.

If IRE wants to stand beside it's "No permanent character destruction after credits", then yea, they couldn't work in that situation, but it would be some nice RP flavor.

then comes my ammendment

Rebirth

if your character dies in one of the above ways and fills a few loose requirements, you may be reborn into a new character taking with you a percent of your lessons aquired minus the lessons you gained due to leveling and neo-credits.

This would allow for older characters to die off, while making room for a new character and only slightly bening the "No permanent character destruction after credits"
