I was just wondering if there is even a chance that photography taken in real life could be tweaked and submitted into the artisanals. I have several pictures that I could make look Glomdoringish and a few that I think remind me of Serenwilde. They are excellent photos.. but if they won't be considered IC enough because it's photography and some photos could be applied to other things besides Lusternia.. then I don't really want to bother editing and filtering them out.

I think you should go for it, personally. The Glomdoring one especially.

Second one.
Sylphas2005-09-15 06:53:41
First one. More of a distinction between background and foreground, and the light draws your eye from the bottom left to the top center. The second seems more flat and it's brighter. And the ladder or whatever it is is interesting, but doesn't seem as much out of place as it probably should.

Cannot display either. *grumble* Sylphas, save it as a jpeg or something and MSN it me later.

Just remember, the pictures have to have been taken by you

It was.
These were taking at Roaring Fork.. it's this little park/hiking trail in Gatlinburg.
Is that enough proof or do you want to see the really horrid pictures of me and my brother climbing around in the stream?
Unknown2005-09-15 13:50:40
Be sure to photoshop in a crazy Tae'dae running through the background.
Unknown2005-09-15 14:29:42
It's not a matter of proving it, rather then a random person from some photography company later coming to us and saying "why are you showing my pictures on your site?"

I know.. I didn't mean for that comment to sound so snippy earlier. It just bothers me a bit when I actually do something visual and I hear "Did you trace that?" or "Are you sure you didn't see this somewhere else?" My mother does that to me almost everytime I show her something.. just happens to be a pet peeve of mine.
But yes.. it is mine and Kidaen which one do you like best?
Galatae2005-09-15 21:43:42
I ... can't decide which one I like better. Both are beautiful, Joli.
The second one probably stays more true to Glomdoring than the first, though... we have all these little streams throughout the forest. And the last time I checked there were no railroad tracks (if that's what those are in the first picture, anyway).

Joli, let Me introduce you to a friend of mine:

Your stuff looks good but you need to tweak the contrasts a bit better since you can tell it was a clearly lit day and you just changed the contrasts and made it a little darker, and used a couple filters. Try experimenting with different tutorials on here, you may be able to achieve a much better look for your images.

That's a fallen ladder.

I'm hoping it's only obvious because you work a lot with photoshop.
Oh and that site has a tutorial to do something I've been wondering about..

Hey tracing is a fine art... I always like tracing and then coloring things in. It's fun! I never colored the original maps for our coloring contents in middle school, I always traced over them so it looked semi-drawn and stood out from the crowd!
Unknown2005-09-16 02:56:18
I have a hard time imagining Young Raezon.

I can't trace.. Everytime I try to trace I always mess up, so I'm better off drawing it myself.
Raz is a cheater!

Young Raezon was a sad little social reject because verbosity at that age doesn't impress your peers, it just confuses them.
Nah, just a little enrichment, gifted & talented kid, Odyssey of the Mind and all that good stuff. Gymnastics, soccer, tae kwon do, baseball ummm... that about covers it. I think it was the middling years that I'm glad are over the most, the young ones were fun.
Tracing isn't cheating, it's the highest form of flattery!

I was a social reject because I didn't want to pretend to be stupid just to fit in with my best friend's new friends..and since they were more popular than me she started hanging out with instead. Life sucks that way.
Ballet when I was young, then chorus for several years. I was in our gifted clas for a while and was the only person allowed to have it twice a day. No sports for me since our school made you choose gifted or p.e.
