Once or twice before, I've had this happen, where several foreign emails pop up, asking me to be their friend, and to chat over messenger. The first time I allowed two of them, and they were really creepy kids from Greece or something. Here's how the current batch looks like:

Now, most of these are the "Let's talk on messenger!" emails you get when someone sees a profile and they want to chat it up with you. Some of these are from china, some from elsewhere, some have emails in the from line, some do not.

Anyone else find this... wierd?

These are the equivilant to random MySpace adds. Yes, I know this feeling. Especially when some random 40 year old gay male couple is looking for hook ups in Silver City, Alberta, Canada. You're just like, "wtf?"

Hah! I've never received one of those - but I live in a "kind of real country" where abortion isn't "that illegal". Phew!

Got another one. Anyone know why I would get these all at once? I can see every once in a while maybe, but that's like ten within a day or two. Maybe I've become some kind of Chinese superstar without knowing it.

I got those so often, I had to delete my yahoo email, and open a new gmail one too. For me, It was because i registered on penpalworld.com and other sites, which led me to finding my chinese teacher from HongKong. As soon as I registered I got nailed, sometimes it was worth it, othertimes not.
Your info just probably got leaked out or something, especially if you chat or irc, it happens. I would sy your info got added to a databse somewhere, but that's just a guess.

I wonder if it's a database of cute 18 year old asians.

I'm going to say no... go into Gmail and you can change the address your email is coming from, on my iBook, I can change WHERE it came from...I've got chinese and thai font.. yea, I could be an 18 year old asian girl.. oh wait
