Instruments

I'd like to see one of the tradeskills get the ability to make instruments. No bard guild or anything, not looking for a skillset, I just want to be able to play music. The only other thing you could do in that situation is like write a piano's description into the LOOK of a manse room, and that isn't portable enough for me. Thoughts? Oh, and if there are instruments and I'm missing them, please let me know who I could bug into getting me one. biggrin.gif

I -almost- got one in closed beta. sad.gif

I suspect this is something in the works for the future. Remember, there's a whole skill pool called Performance that has no skills attached to it, IIRC.

We'll eventually have bards, jounglers, troubadours, skalds, mimes, dancers, mummers, singers, poets...you name it!

Maybe...

Wow...mimes...*twitch* Every one of their skills would give me the fear affliction.

I would want to see someone like Ixion or Murphy sing. Now that would be a treat. clap_1.gif

oh ya! i'd be carrying around my contrafagetto everywhere!

That would be awesome. Festivals would be a lot more fun to organize for sure. Can't you just imagine a bunch of Tainted jesters juggling maces and hoping around.. Yeah, we definetly need some sort of performing art.

As long as they don't bring back the Achaean prank skillset - overly silly things like that do not belong in Lusternia, if you ask me sad.gif

Could always make it a tradeskill.

Then everyone can run around being stupid!

I always found MUD music rather stupid. Played the Gemstone trial a little bit and they had instruments there. They sucked. It'd be like:

You start playing her silvery flute. (x5)
You gained a new music level!
You start playing her silvery flute with great ardour. (x50)
You gained a new music level!

Okay it wasn't exactly like that as they had different styles to play, but that's the gist.

EDIT: You starts to think you shouldn't edit away third person nouns and replace them with second person ones.

Ew. I'd expect something more tradeskill-like from Lusternia though tongue.gif Where you have songs you play, custom written by players, kinda like design sketches for tailoring/jewelry/etc. Each song might bestow an effect on people in a room, based on the song type. So, either a tradeskill or a guildskill for some new archetype, depending on if the effects are more flavour then use, or more use than flavour.

I'd really really hope they do not make the art of music into its own tradeskill....
tsaephai2005-09-21 23:21:07
i think it should just be in the arts skill, and a new skill added to bookbinding that would allow for writting music. and just different instruments so people could choose what they would wish.
that would open up a whole new realm of RP! imagine, racial music cultures!
igasho's could be some sort of tribal dance with a low wind instrument occupying it to do the beat of the music, while the actual melody could be played by the percussion!
mugwumps wouldn't need instruments.

Guys, emotes?
