Okay, the story goes that I got bored. While bored I decided to start thinking up a new character to create and fool around on. As usual, I'm having trouble giving my new creation a suitable name that, you know, sings to me. Stumped, I then poke around a name generator at random for a bit and come up with very little worth anything. Having failed there, I switched to playing with the search field of the player honours for amusement and possibly ideas.
So it was that one of the most bizarre things that has ever happened to me on or off the internet happened. On a whim, I entered in part of a name I once made up and never actually used for anything, just to see what it would return. And thus did I enter into the Twilight Zone.
Okay, so the name in and of itself is rather unusual, right? Right. The reason I know this is because I frickin' made it up. I mean... I'm sitting here going "WTF?" in my head as I look at their player honours. Basically, it looks like a level 1 that either never finished getting their arse out of the Portal of Fate or gave up right after. They didn't choose a guild, they didn't go on the tour, et cetera. In the end, I'm like: "Bwah?"
I could swear I never created a character on Lusternia using that name, posted the name anywhere, or created a character on any other MUD with it for that matter. All that preceeded and followed these rationalizations were long, drawn out moments of this sheer, mind-numbing stupidity. After a little bit I managed to gather enough of my marbles to make use of them. What did I do? Try and log into the character of course! I tried it with pretty much every password I've ever used, and it's a rather small handful of them that I tend to use without fail. But it was a no go. I'm almost positive this character isn't mine but the name totally is, which is why I find it so utterly and completely disturbing.
Seriously. It's been sitting in one or more of my notebooks for months, and hell, it was only last night I tried reviving it with a new concept when I was writing a bunch of other ideas down. I think I even have some of the original backstory scribbled out about the first person I invented who bore the name Millunivh somewhere.
I'm not calling this plagiarism or anything of the sort. This is just a weird beyond weird for me, something I'm not sure I can fathom or even want to. I could understand, say, if it were something a little more common sounding, something of a more general-ish fantasy naming style. However, Millunivh -- which is pronounced something like "Mil-e-oo-kneev" -- is just something that sprang entirely from my sick, twisted little imagination with no outside influences.
It's one thing when people start creating characters with similar names to existing characters, to try and ponder the odds of this name I drempt up popping out of someone else's mind is making my mind do this:
Feel free to discuss, yell obscenities at me, offer cookies, hugs or whatever. I suppose I just want to make some bloody sense out of this.

That's weird. It could be possible someone had the exact same thought I guess. I had a similar experience with the newbie who stole my Achaean character's name. I started thinking I created her and like you I tried logging in to no avail.
I finally convinced myself that she was not me because I would never have chosen a furrikin or a druid.
EDIT: Of course, my character's name was also ripped off of a book series also...

Same exact thing happened to me This character is supposed to be named Shaiel, a name I'm extremely fond of for various reasons. Someone made a character in the same guild as me TWO OOC DAYS before I made Shorlen. Makes me annoyed every time I see the name Shorlen, knowing it isn't Shaiel =\\

Mine isn't from a series. Yet. But that would require me to actually, y'know... write... and get published... multiple times.

There's only so many combinations of letters that sound good together, looks like one of the ten thousand or two Lusternians strung the same ones together.
