mount.gif I was talking with a bunch of my friends who play Lusternia and we though up of a knighthood specialization. If this isn't original, please bare with me. What if you could take on the specialization "Bushido". It could make the knight faster but lower its defense. But with this, you must add things like Kitanas into it. I am interested in some peoples imput into this. shuriken.gif

Warriors already have katanas, as pureblades. happy.gif

This falls under the "Wutai" roleplaying games cliche rule.

Cliche 104: Wutai Rule
Most RPGs, no matter what their mythology, include a land based on ancient Japan. Full of pagodas, shrines, shoguns, kitsune, and sushi, this completely anachronistic place is the source of the entire world's supply of ninja and samurai characters.

Though the idea seems like it would be a good one, we already have enough specialzations and hope they focus on athletics now

theyve done a great job fixing bugs and adding specializations, but id prefer if they carried on fixing some already existant skills rather then adding anymore new ones

We need a "duelist" skillset. Rapier in one hand, main-gauche or buckler in the other.

No

Choose Pureblade. Use a katana. Be honourable.

Boom! Samurai!
(or as much as most people understand of it anyway)

Yes.

I still hold that we need an Improvised Combat skillset, as devised by Guido, and perfected by that weird-arse superhero vampire in Shadow Hearts: Covenant.

"Locker - Now you too can master the intricacies of locker-to-locker combat!"
"Rope - Tie up your opponent! Fantastic party trick!"
"Tables - Whether you rip off a leg and beat 'em senseless or just throw the entire thing at their heads, a world of fun can be enjoyed, today!"

It was just an idea flowing through my mind. I don't need this to be implemented but it is a 'what if' sort of thing. I just though it would be cool to ball around.

I agree, I always thought it was weird that no knights would ever be able to use shields, because you'll always either be a weak blademaster or bonecrusher if you do, as you need two weapons in those to be effective, and pureblade and axelord need both hands for the weapon.

You could easily do a samurai-type warror, within the current guidelines of frames. Like Lisaera so succinctly said, choose pureblade, use a katana, and be honorable. Boom, samurai! However, you could also submit armour patterns to your local forging cartel for armor that has a more samurai-esque feel to it, a similar helmet. Make several different kinds of katana, with different looks for different situations. Play up the RP aspect of it a great deal. The exact guild dosen't really matter much, though I would think that a City-based warrior would be closer to a 'steriotypical' samurai than a commune-based one would be.

We need an actual knight class that uses one handed weapons with two handed stats, that can use a shield in the other hand. Maybe one that has a mount pet.

Imagine if paladins in Aetolia got horses instead of falcons. biggrin.gif

I almost submitted a daedric dai-katana for a laugh, but I figured They would get mad at me. sad.gif
Acrune2005-09-23 15:28:15
Call it a faedric dai-katana tongue.gif
Jack2005-09-23 15:35:50
Naedric! Braydric!

.. Shaedric!

Submit a daedric fullplate and daedric helm design, too. That would be the most badassed armour ever.
Richter2005-09-23 15:40:35
I'm always available to make full custom sets of weapon/armour. wink.gif

*opens a box of instant samurai*
*custom weapons and armour come out*
The instructions read "Just add honor, and serve"
Unknown2005-09-24 02:09:29
I wish I could have instant samurai... life would be grand... I can just see myself walking down the streets of Magnagora in my bad censor.gif samurai get up. I would be the coolest kid on the block...

Call me synical but blah to 'code of honor' groups. People can be honorable, but making it work is a sort of all or nothing affair; either everyone you deal with follows your code or the whole thing falls apart by the ones who aren't following it. I'm actualy glad that Celest falls more in the Crusading Fanatic role than the Good & Honorable role.

Besides, if you're going to take something from that region and era, go ninja.

Slip in using stealth, taking slow, steady steps. Fling a deadly poisoned dart or arrow at a foe. Rush out between the guards, blinding them with dust and laying down barbs to hinder the persuit. Complete the effect with smoke bombs. Pure style. ninja.gif

Blah, just find the people who coded Astrology, tell them to remake the Shadowsnakes from the ground up with even MORE complexity and difficulty. That's enough 'ninja' for me realy (can't help it: I HATED having to kill as a Snake but the complexity was a trip: Meteor arrows, Dash in, venoms flying, working 10+ venoms at a time with doublestab while trying to keep alive while trying to slip in Hypnosis.)
