Hello again. Can I hear some input on the following characters, please?
Orlach ur'Guard BM
Viscanti/Elfen/Human Nihilist
Elfen Wiccan with Hexes
What I mean is PvP and PvM ability and everything else you can say about.
P.S. Why I don't see much humans around? Isn't evolution good? 50-95 means 10 points invested in your attributes. So, if you're warrior it means str, dex and con of 15.

I wouldn't try an -Elfen- Nihilist really.. unless they changed their RP..? *peers at Magnagorans for input*
EDIT: Yes evolution is good, and there are plenty but most have a gem of cloaking

I'd rather say
Aslaran Ur'Guard BM
and
Mugwump Nihilist/Wiccan
would be better, but that's up to you.
The bashing abilities of knights are directly related to your skill ranks in your Weapon spec and athletics, so you'd have to be rather high to be good at bashing, and even then you'll take longer than normal. But you can tank a lot more.
As a Mugwump Nihilist, you'll suffer from the relative weakness of cosmicfire, but at least you put it out real fast.
Same goes for Mugwump Wiccan until you get Trans Moon where you'll get Moonburst, a very good bashing ability.
I can't say much about the PvP.
Humans...well, I guess it's because of their relative weak starting stats, 12 in each isn't that good. They are just that, average. Though they gain experience comparable a lot faster.

Sorry sorry, I actually was about to say Orclach Ur'Guard Bonecrusher.
Jack2005-10-05 20:18:58
Orclach are a solid race for any warrior guild, with good strength, good con and excellent resistances. Humans aren't really good until higher levels, when evolution kicks in (they gain an extra stat point for every 5 levels, beginning at level 50 and ending at 95), though they do gain experience far faster than other races. And elfen and viscanti will only ever be any good if you're a Moondancer or Nihilist respectively, as unspecialized they're both fairly weak (though elfen still have fairly solid intelligence/charisma when unspecialized. I still don't recommend an elfen Nihilist, though, as all elfen and merian are banned from power in Magnagora).
My recommendation: a mugwump Nihilist/Wiccan with hexes (must-have if yer mugwump), Orclach BM (though personally I always think of 'em as Bonecrushers. DAMN YOU MURPHY AND SHIRO) or an elfen Moonie/viscanti Nihilist.
EDIT: Oh yeah, comparative PVM/PVP worth. Mugwump Nihilist/Wiccan with hexes is excellent for PVP as you can very quickly lock people down and prevent them from curing or moving, if you have the correct skills. The only way out of such a lock is a fabled-level skill in Discipline, called focus mind. However, they're very frail as far as constitution goes and are likely to die quickly unless yer a high level/have drawdown (a Transcendent Moondancer ability). Human are pretty crappy for PVP to begin with, but once evolution kicks in they can be unbelievably good, particularly as they have no disadvantages, and are hands down the best PVM race out there. Master Viscanti are fairly intelligent and have solid con and some fairly good resistances, while High Elfen are even more intelligent, have far more charisma and no disadvantages (though are frailer). I'd say Master Viscanti > High Elfen for both PVM and PVP, however.

Yeah, I know, mugwumps rock. The problem is I *hate* mugwumps and all other grooks. I just can't play a glistening frog. So we came to Orclach BC, Viscanti Nihilist and Elfen Wiccan. Can you order them in two lists (PvP, PvM)? From what I see High Elfen Wiccans bash extremely well and I just can't understand how con 16 (weathering), str 15 Orclach with resistances can be not the best one for PvM .
Edit: Btw, how good is humans' experience bonus? Like 25% or so?

Terenas2005-10-05 20:44:33
If it works anything like other racial bonuses, I think it might be 20%, but don't quote me on it.
Adze2005-10-05 20:53:39
And I'll continue throwing out questions What do you think might be the best PvM class for a human?

Don't prejudge races just on how their Achaean/Aetolian/Imperian counterparts are. Mugwump are friggin' awesome at the moment: all the top tier Wiccan fighters are mugwump. And "humans breeding with other races" gives a viable RP reason to describe a mugwump as particularly human in appearance.
PvP: Orclach BC (If you've got element runes)
Viscanti Nihilist (Takes skill and is difficult to master, but very rewarding)
Elfen Wiccans (Good damage but sucky con and their ents aren't particularly good. Hexes also eats up EQ like no tomorrow)
PvM: Orclach BC (From around levels 30-80, these guys are insane)
Elfen Wiccan (Good damage, and drawdown somewhat reduces the suckiness of their con, while increasing their intelligence and thus damage)
Viscanti Nihilist (Incredibly sucky damage and a sip penalty)
Richter2005-10-05 21:32:29
Humans are just middle of the road characters with an exp bonus. The added stat bonus is nice though, because it puts stats where your class needs them.
Murphy2005-10-05 23:15:57
you like pvp and bashing? Orclach is a good solid race. Most mobs do cutting or blunt damage, and as an orclach with fullplate and putre (ur'guard) astral mobs went from doing 600 a hit to about 100-150 a hit.
Your disadvantage in orclach lies in the low int which makes you vulnerable to guardians somewhat, and your large size which hurts your writhe time if someone webs you.
Apart from that, in group combat the majority of people go for damage and its usually either magic (moonburst which you have a lvl 2 resistance to) or its mainly cutting from BM and pureblade, which you also have a lvl 2 resistance to. its a good race and great RP for ur'guard.
EDIT: Orclach's are possible the tankiest race around apart from maybe igasho or tae'dae, but they both have big big balance penalties. Orclach's bash the best out of every race i've been as a knight. Including Dracnari, viscanti, aslaran and faeling.

Igasho balance penalties aren't TOO bad Murphy. With rapiers in lightning combatstyle im bouncing between 2.5 and 3 second combo times.
Shinza2005-10-06 09:09:05
Something I've always been wondering about was how viable a strong/slow race combined with fast/weak weapons is. Working on the idea that weapon speed and lightning combat style could make up for slower balance, and racial strength could make up for low weapon damage... would such a combination actually come out average?
For example... for an Igasho with rapiers, like Asarnil said, can they feasibly cancel out and you'll be left with reasonable speed and damage + the whole tankiness as icing on the cake?
EDIT: I guess what I'm really getting at is: for Asarnil, your balance seems to come out alright, but how does your damage compare? Perhaps something like a longsword?

Well if he's using rapiers and going for damage, he needs to be publically sodomised for stupidity.
He'd be going for wounding with that STR, but its only one or 2 points higher than an orclach, so the balance penalty blows.
Sure orclach has low int, but you can still stop it 1v1 against most other players, and the tankiness to magic means you KNOW they are going to go for the mana kill. once you know what someone is gonna do, you can prevent it

Murphy what was the highest your strength hit as an Orclach? I regularly hit 22-24 strength and coupling that with 220 precision rapiers, that kinda hurts.
Oh and as for more damage, I have been thinking about giving Scimitars a try once someone comes up with a decent design for them and I can get some forged properly, I don't know how much they were changed after the precision stuff went in, but if its about the same as the achaea version but instead having an uberhigh precision, then they could be quite a fun alternative.

when you get your precision above 250, then let me know i'd love to see it
Asarnil2005-10-06 15:48:54
If anyone has a set of rapiers with 250+ precision on the odd times I have 23+ strength, I would love to borrow them to see what the wounding is like
silimaur2005-10-06 16:37:26
hrm i was just wondering what putre does and the costs etc? power?
Adze2005-10-06 20:36:01
Also, what do you think is the best choice por pure PvM orclach BC? Totems skill seems quite bashing-friendly to me. Can't say that about Necromancy. Though it has lich and putre... Hmm... I'm in doubt
