I understand that you can't transfer artifacts to others and that makes sense but I just dont get why you aren't allowed to trade in your artifact(s) at half price for credits and use the credits for yourself or give them to other people...I mean you did buy them with credits and you're allowed to transfer credits to whomever you want so what exactly is the big issue with that?
Richter2005-10-06 02:04:35
It would certainly be nice to transfer artifacts to an alt of yours, since they were bought with ooc credits.
Not that I have any alts, mind you, but it sounds neat.

That would be nice.
Both ideas actually would be nice.

To clarify, what she is really asking is "Can I trade an artifact in for credits, then take those and give them to another character to sell or buy more artifacts with.
Gotta love IMing.

Because you can also buy them with IC credits?

You can't transfer IC bought credits, with IC gained gold, to alts.
I'm assuming this is valid in Lusternia because its valid in Achaea. Gods, if I could've done that, I'd have transferred all the credits I bought by bashing the UW to my snake who couldn't bash and she'd be tri-trans by now.

I'm not talking about alts though..I'm talking about other characters..and asking why you can't even return an artifact for half cost to use them on your own character for lessons or selling them on market or anything else.
Narsrim2005-10-06 03:34:39
To my understanding, there is no difference in transfering IC credits versus OOC credits. Credits = Credits.
I think the reason you cannot transfer artifacts and such is likely because it would be a huge hassle for the administration. First, they'd either have to cap it (so you could only transfer it like 2-3 times or something) or encounter those beloved people who want to change every other day. Then if they did cap it, there would have to be some system to accurately and systematically record such.
Furthermore, let's assume one character is shrubbed and another is not. Would you be able to transfer from the shrub to the other? It just opens all kinds of interesting yet tedious scenarios that would cause lots and lots of time to be consumed trying to sort out of the chaos.

but can't people already trade artifacts in whenever they want anyway? When I transferred my powerplex jewels I got 200 credits for the two of them...Why not be able to use those credits instead of having to buy a new artifact if I don't want another one.

Of course they wouldn't be able to.

Because it's the business side of the game, and it encourages you to buy more credits
Gregori2005-10-06 17:50:39
It is just like many stores. You go in and you buy a stereo, take it home, hook it up and oops.. it is not the one you thought it would be so you take it back, and find out the refund policy is... "In store credit only on all refunds." Business is what IRE is about.
Now while they provide a loving (well maybe not Lisaera ), safe (I think Raezon may still wanna hang me by my toes ), environment, they are still a business at the backend of it all.

I never understood why you couldn't trade in an artifact and do whatever with the credits. Lessons, different artifacts, gold, or whatever, those credits are still being reused. What difference does it make in the way you get rid of them. Not being able to trade in your arti's for useable credits is one of the primary reasons why I haven't bought any on Lusternia yet. Got stuck with two 800 credit each axes on Achaea i've no use for and I don't want any of the other artifacts.
Raezon2005-10-06 19:57:16
It's very very easy to explain.
I have a multiple thousand credit artifact character on Achaea. I turn in all those artifacts for credit. I then post on the Lusternia board I want to transfer credits from Achaea for Lusternian credits. Those credits that someone would have purchased in Achaea are now purchased in Lusternia and thus skews the buying schematics of the games.

How's this different from people just transfering creds from achaea to lusternia without buying artifacts

Because you used the credits already for your character.
You can't forget skills, get your credits back from lessons and sell them.
In case of artifacts, you can get some credits back, so such a rule is needed.
No recycling, bad for business!
Munsia2005-10-07 08:41:54
But.. Achaea sucks

How about trading in artifacts for neocredits?
I imagine it would be fair.

There's a line in HELP ARTIFACT TRADEINS that says you can't get lesson refunds (which are basically Neocredits). You may only trade in for another artifact because IRE wants more business?
EDIT: And I need to read the thread before posting.
