I'd like to suggest that since in this realm the Gods are far more active and willing to join battles themselves, that they be constrained by some mechanism that allows us to see whether they are present or not.
I realize they have admin tasks to do during which they don't want to be disturbed, so invisibility in such cases is fine. However, if they are going to be appearing and interacting with mortals, they really should be visible. This could be managed in a few ways.
Simply require that manifested gods (those who appear on the prime plane with a body) appear on WHO. This is the easiest solution, and most logical. Their locations wouldn't be able to be discerned.
Alternatives might include their fulcruxes changing in appearance, or some message to the whole Basin that announces they are physically present and ready to fight. Maybe even allow divinities to be scryed by the various detection enchantments.

We can, if We want too.
Valaria2005-10-09 06:08:04
probably the reason why gods want to stay hidden so they can catch naughty bad people some where around the corner. They are very eager to catch those people than they are being visible.
It is like police during night waiting to find a speeder pass by so they can have a joy to catch the speeder. Because at daytime, it is boring.
i kid.. i kid.
oh well, my best attempt at joke.

I don't think it should be a choice, is what I meant.
I'm tired of dying because some guardian deity is lurking about invisibly, which we have no possible way of knowing.

Personally I'd suggest not sneaking into a Temple, then you won't have to worry about whether We are here or not.

Well, spying on Godmeetings is dangerous business, possibly the most dangerous business in the Game as death is assured.
It's not really that hard of an equation.
Spy + God = Player death

YARHAR! This looks like a job for the Undead Lichghosty corps!
Well if we had a way to stay as a soul longer at least.

I realize that. Nor would it be an issue if we don't walk to the nexus of another organization, or spy on any gathering in enemy territory, or follow our enemies outside of our own territory.
But, we could at least have a chance of knowing not to interrupt before the death blow.

The death concerned happened when Elryn entered my Temple and dreamwove into a private conversation.
At the time, yes, I was concealed from sight using 'WHO'. I was for all purposes fully visible otherwise.
The moral of this story is, don't dreamweave into a private conversation being held by a God in a Temple.
I'm tempted to close this thread, but I suppose I'll leave it open.

Its not so bad. I remember in Avalon I just walked into a temple just to see what it looks like, no one was there, but I was immediately turned to stone once the God of Darkness saw me there.

Just so you are aware, I cannot tell you are present in any way aside from entering the room. And even leaving once I see you there is obviously too late.
Hence, force manifestion = visibility. Are there any drawbacks to this you couldn't avert with TELLSOFF?
Unknown2005-10-09 06:17:45
Ah, yes, the wonders of Avalon, where all gods were bullies and could do whatever they pleased.

Heaven to Avaer...
You keep missing the point...
IN A TEMPLE
(Temple, an area sacrosanct to an immortal in which He/She holds full sway. Thus, don't walk into a Temple if you don't want to die.)

That's fine. Kill whoever wanders into your temples. Perfectly fine. Does this topic say anything about temples, however? Because its NOT just temples where this happens.
It's obviously not going to change. Sorry for getting everyone so worked up.

OMG you played avalon? I played First Age... *shudder*
I once got eaten alive buy the Goddess of Circe because I walked in on her and a mortal accidently ( in a not so public place but I didn't know she was around I just looked up WHO and saw a character in a weird place and went to him to see what is was about, but it wasn't her temple or anything) she immediately ate my body and disfavoured me. I was all sad.
