Now that Josun's a librarian and reading more books than ever, I think a nice new accessory could be glasses.
Imagine the possibilities: sunglasses, reading glasses, large owl-eyed ones that magnify your eyes a ton... it would be fun!
Jewelers could make them, I suppose, unless there is a better trade that could create them.
You could even have an emote for glasses: adjustglasses, or something: Reaching up, you delicately adjust a pair of scholarly glasses on your nose. (Of course, not that horrid one, but something similar to it.)
They could be enchantable and count for your appearance to help in influencing, just like most other jewelry will, but other than that, would have no uses besides being fun for Josun. Isn't that what Jewelry is supposed to be for, anyway?

Glasses have been suggested about a billion times in every IRE game and i've never seen them implemented. I've got around it in Achaea by just putting them in my char's description, and doing non-standard emotes to fiddle with them.
Plus, if you made them enchantable, EVERYONE would wear them.. and that sort o f defeats the purpose (unless helms kept you from weaaring them, so you wouldn't see knights running around in sunglasses )

Bah! I've never seen them suggested before... that's beside the point, though, I suppose.
In any case, including them in the description will have to do until they're introduced, I guess...

Jairdan just cos they might have been suggested elsewhere, doesn't mean they won't be implemented here. Just look at the infinite vials being auctioned off - people have been campaigning for them on Achaea for at least six years.

So that's who you were? *faint* Shiri had better not have known before or he'll be making fun of me too.
Glasses would be kind of fun. Helms should stop it so only the scholarly classes can wear them. I imagine it wouldn't be that great of an enchantment anyways. Maybe you can squint one room extra?
Sylphas2005-10-09 23:13:42
Um, Squint is already line of sight. And a longer range glance is still just a worse form of Squint, since Squint doesn't use up balance or equilibrium like Glance does.
Vix2005-10-09 23:16:25
Squint has a limit. If you go to some of those long-line areas and squint, then sprint, you'll be in a different place then the last place you saw.
Sylphas2005-10-09 23:49:53
Would those really be worth it? I've never had that problem.

I honestly don't have a clue what you're talking about, lol. I'm sure i'm not the only person to ever use glasses in their description before
Or am I?

There's only one person that I can think of who regularly pushed up his glasses (or even had some).
EDIT: And as for being worth it, probably not. Maybe just have it work like that without an enchantment. The only time where I sprinted farther than I squinted was someplace in the Razines or other mountain ranges.
Jairdan2005-10-10 00:02:28
Wasn't me, I'm afraid. So, no harassment is in store from the Shiri-bot for you
My glasses-wearing character was limited to an Achaean bard, who was a blithering clutz until he got on stage, at which point he was a super-confident rockstar, baby That was ages ago though.

Aww, guess not then. Shiri will still probably get onto me.
As for the glasses, I only time I sprinted for more than I squinted was some place in the mountains. Maybe have them just work like that without an enchantment since it's not much.

It's just north of that hut off the road, eight rooms going north-south.
Sylphas2005-10-10 00:57:04
Now you can get arti glasses.
Vix2005-10-10 16:51:31
But there's only about 13 (or 15?) of them for rich people.
Sylphas2005-10-10 21:16:57
Last I checked, I was winning the auction for them with nothing but collateral from my pipes and brooch.
