So who are our real cooks in Lusternia? I'm not talking about box dinners, Freezer dinners, or canned soup (unless your using it in something bigger).. I'm talking homemade kind of stuff.
I myself am an alfredo freak and make my own homemade version which I like over toast most of all
edit: Discuss the food you like to make!

I was a cook briefly when I went to college, if that counts.

I worked in a 3 star restaurant for nearly 6 years. I worked my way up from dish washer, to prep cook, to short order cook, to line cook. I've made a lot of dishes and worked with a lot of real chefs but nothing compares to my step-mothers home cooking. She makes a dish called Sliders that consists of thin sliced strips of dough boiled and served in a stew of home made gravy and biscuits.

I love to cook, too. I do plenty when I'm alone or trying to impress other people. I'm not pro, but am thinking about it (that and a hundred other careers). Might as well share recipes?
Best after-party snack:
Leftover pasta
Olive oil
Bread crumbs
fresh oregano
Chili flakes
Sea Salt
Nuke the pasta, brown the crumbs and chili in olive oil, throw pasta in, toss with organo. Eat.
EDIT: Need I say salt to taste?

I used to make my own pizzas almost every week. They were awesome. There is also this really neat spinach, rice, and mushroom stuff I make around Thanksgiving. It roxxors. I make really good cakes too. Usually if you give me a recipe I can make something.

I like to cook brownies. But not those hard stale homemade kind. The kind you find in a box and take 15 minutes to bake.

If you're hungry enough to eat a dish you just prepared, then you didn't cook it well. Thus, anytime someone says something is "yummy" well, generally their concoction can be discounted as merely mediocre.

I'm a big soup guy myself. -squeeze hand blender- But other than that I'm pretty good with most basic stuff (Fried chicken, creamy macaroni n' cheese, etc), and then other random likes like salmon. I really want to use this sushi kit I have one day, but just going out to a traditional Japanese restaurant is way easier for me.
Sylphas2005-10-20 09:35:13
Anything where I can grab random things from my fridge, cut them up and cook them, I'm good at. Oatmeal and fruit/syrup/sugar/spices, eggs and random veggies... pretty much anything where I can just grab the ingredients, not bother measuring, dice them all together and cook it.
Munsia2005-10-20 11:21:43
I never measure anything I cook

I make all sorts of random stuff, my 'typical' dinner is usually junk like chicken in a marsala sauce with random veggies on the side, or random soup, or whatnot. Wanted to go get a chef's liscense, one of these days...
Murphy2005-10-20 17:17:14
mm i love cooking, fried rice in a stir fry, awesome steak

When I'm home, I cook a lot because I'm a mommy's boy. My mother was raised in a typical Southern-ish family so it isn't unusual for us to those beloved/massive grand family dinners with the the pork roast, the whole chicken, mashed potatoes, corn-on-the-cob (usually from the garden), salad (from garden), corn bread, etc. etc. etc. with pumpkin pie (my favorite *squeal*).
Ironically, I can cook all that junk... but since I went to college, I'm all into Asian food. My favorites are Japanese (which my I'm learning slowly but surely how to cook a lot of my favorites), Thai (red curry *drool*), Indian, etc.

The moment pizza hut puts sauce and cheese on the dough its an abomination.
Sylphas2005-10-20 17:51:19
