Just wondering.. What do you think is best for hunting with?
Aslaran (+3 balance, 16 strength, 5994h surge)
or
Igasho (-1 balance, 21 strength, 6802h surge, lvl 1 health regen)
or
Orclach (+1 balance, 19 strength, 5994h surge, lvl 2 health regen)
I really can't decide between the two, since the extra strength from Igasho will be a huge boost while hunting, along with the pretty awesome resistances and the level 1 regen, yet the pure speed and average/above average strength of the Aslaran might kill more things per hour, while Orclach have the tanking of beasts with the strong regen/resistances, above average strength, and a balance bonus.. Can't choose!

I would be far less concerned about tanking... but Orclach is definately in last.
Ixion2005-10-18 17:12:06
Once you are tanky enough to not worry about dieing and you start getting decent crits, speed is by far most important factor in knight hunting.
Of those choices I suggest Aslaran

I did not know orlachs had a balance bonus
Ixion2005-10-18 18:54:44
They dont- Soll included balance facepaints.
Ekard2005-10-18 19:48:29
Soll take human!
I cant tank only a bit less then Igasho but got much more exp!
High level human is best for knight.

Does the character have trans resilience? Also what specialisation are you? Because if you choose your racial weapons race, you get like a 99% accuracy with your weapons - which you notice the difference between hitting STRAIGHT away. I missed more in one day of furrikin blademaster than I did in a month of Igasho blademaster.
Soll2005-10-18 20:49:08
Inept Resilience.
Blademaster.
Blademaster.

I loved bashing as an orclach, the beasty cutting bonus plus the fullplate and putre I had at the time meant I would only take 100 damage from an eagle or other astral mob
Thorgal2005-10-20 02:14:25
Orclach with rapiers is the best bashing build out of those three choices. Get rapiers with ~235 speed, crap precision and high damage, go orclach and you'll bash faster than any aslaran or igasho could ever wish to do.
Shryke2005-10-20 03:55:45
but a human would still level faster...

Soll didn't list humans as a choice.. and their stats really aren't that great, it'd be just as fast, or even faster, to bash as an orclach.
Of course taurian would be an even better choice.

Bashing as an aslaran with rapiers is real ideal, I'd say. You got good, fast use of transmute and you can keep beasts shielding with raze/hit. I can handle two to three knights in shallach unsurged and using transmute.

Nope. Remember, your level speed is the speed you gain experience. The speed you gain experience is a function of both your expee gain/penalty and how fast you can kill things. Killing things faster means gaining experience faster.
If you can kill 5 astral critters a minute as Orclach and 4 astral critters a minute as a human, does your human XP bonus help you make up that gap?
Thorgal2005-10-20 07:06:22
Strength is the largest factor in warrior bashing though.

Narsrim: Orclach last.
Ixion: Aslaran
Ekard: Human
Murphy: Orclach
Thorgal: Orclach
Now I was hoping for it to be unanymous, but.. Thanks for all the info. Guess I'll just have to pick from Orclach, Aslaran, and Human.
Wait.
That didn't narrow it down. Arg.

No debate about it from me - Thorgal's suggestion is the best of the lot. Though for rapiers like he mentioned, you could be paying upto 60-100 credits for the pair, depending on who you have to forge for you and how much time they have available.
Unknown2005-10-20 17:00:56
If at a high enough level a human can bash just as could as a orclach right. They both have like 15 base str right.
Soll2005-10-20 17:42:11
At around level 85-90, I guess. Anything before that and some of the points would have been spread between con, dex, and int
Corr2005-10-20 17:46:04
Soll, based on what I just heard this is how I would choose.
Be an Aslaran if you don't mind looking for people to buy health vials and enchantments from.
Be Human if you just want to get levels and watch your stats grow.
Be Orclach if your a bit lazy and want to bash the fastest.
