Where did you all come up with the name Lusternia?
Iridiel2005-10-19 19:33:00
Good question. I've always wondered that.

As my boss was talking to me while I was typing..... can a Mod change the top to I not I've...

Roark was lustful and Estarra had a hernia when they went to take the proposal to IRE.
Isune2005-10-19 19:50:08
Probably from the word "luster," rather than "lust."

I looked on a shelf behind me, randomly picked a book, took said book and looked for the first name randomly only to find out apparently it was a popular book sad.gif

Actually, what do Aetolia and Achaea mean? Or were they names of places... *chin* I think they were.

Imperian... Not exactly sure, but I suppose it comes from the base word "Imperial" or something.

Lusternia has always stumped me. I support the "lustful hernia" explaination until told otherwise by Estarra. smile.gif

Aetolia and Achaea are both places in Greece, I think.

You are correct - Achaea was at the northern part of the Peloponnese, and Aetolia was its own place on the mainland near the Ionian Sea.

I always wondered it. My sister knew the word came from "luster" but my brother was telling my mom that I was looking at porn before she could explain...

Imperian is an original name, in that form it has no other meaning that I know of, and though it may be dervied from Imperia, I doubt it.

It always amused me that Achaea and Aetolia came from ancient Greece. We had maps of it in my geography and history classrooms way back in high school, and it's the reason I always pronounced them how I do "ah-kay-a" and "ay-eh-tol-lee-ah". smile.gif

Exarius2005-10-20 20:31:45
"Lusternia" is derived from the ancient Greek, lus ter nya, meaning, "Trespassers will be prosecuted."

Don't know a thing about the real places, and that's how I've always pronouced them. *shrug*
Stangmar2005-10-21 00:05:37
Yeah, same here. And achaea being greek would explain why they ripped off the whole 'Isle of Delos' which is in greek mythology.
Vix2005-10-21 00:06:36
The whole thing is ripped off of the Greeks. The Gods, the forest spirits, even Eleusis.

The best things in Achaea are the things about Eris, who is, of course, a direct ripoff of the Principia Discordia. Even her desc is straight from the book. Her posts are pretty hilarious if you've read the book and know the context.

The same goes for Omar Ravenhurst (the mob) in Imperian. I laughed quite a bit when I saw him and his numerous quotes when you greet him.

And Eris (the player) is Estarra, who made this completely awesome and great game. wub.gif
