Thinking about maybe mapping the whole basin and selling the map/module for it.. The speedwalker is disturbingly fast.
Thoughts?
Edit: Oh yeah, the individual room blocks are all MXP-enabled so you can right click to instapath to them.

That's like Whyte's Imperian mapping, map modules are awesome.. I'd probably buy it, heh. I'd make one myself, but I can't code C++.

How do you deal with all that bright cyan and dark red for everything? It'd keel my eyes.

Did you know that zMUD comes with this really nifty thing called an automapper? It's got a GUI and a database, and even does speedwalking! Imagine that!
Thorgal2005-10-20 17:50:01
Map modules have a lot more possibilities, and are more powerful, than Zmud's included automapper.. don't know about zMapper.

This speedwalker just swam once and moved 22 rooms in 11 seconds.
zMUD takes about 16, not including the swimming.
Plus it uses almost no memory and requires no load time.
Edit: As a note, this is Whyte's mapper with some tweaks for Lusternia-friendliness. Per the GPL the source would be available if I chose to distribute it.

That's completely amazing. I have Thorgal's Zmud map up right now, and while it's great as well, it takes up a part of my screen that I have to pin it onto, I'd love to have it within the text.

I've tried Whyte's mapper, and I gave up on it before too long. It's a proxy server, so I'm not connecting to the game directly. It crashed on me and took my connection with it. It's written in C++, so it cannot be updated easily like triggers in a client. You have to disconnect, re-compile, and re-connect.
I just re-did all my zMUD maps to color the rooms based on terrain type. It's very pretty, and lets me easily see where to go for the herbs I want to harvest.
If Whyte's speedwalking is faster, I'd suggest that you tweak your zMUD automapper settings. It can be quite speedy, if you have it configured properly. Of course, I'm not really one to talk, since I'm still too lazy to make triggers for when I trip on a cow or sheep that will resume my speedwalk...

It only calculated the path.. It didn't actually run it in that time
Ashteru2005-10-23 21:14:44
Aaah...don't know a bit about that, so my question might've been stupid.
Joli2005-10-23 22:52:04
I want it.. I love Whyte's system on Imperian..
Gimme.. you know you want to.

As per the GNU license, you may modify and redistribute it however you wish, but the result will still have the license, meaning you are NOT allowed to sell it. The mapper will remain free at all times, in all forms.
Sorry about the delayed reply.

Edited after further clarification from the author. Also apologies for any intended slight, I thought Akel was passing on a message from Whyte, not that they were one and the same.

I'm well aware of what GPL says, I've read the entire license before using it.
I'm sorry if I caused any confusion, by selling I meant hiding the fact that you can get it free from somewhere else.
