It's interesting that we keep getting more scholarly gods, but has anyone managed to figure out the actual differences between the three yet?

It seems they all overlap really, but then, the same could be said for the warrior gods in a way.

I always thought Lacostian was more of a 'general' knowledge guy, who wanted to know, and others to know, and whatnot, whereas I seen Raezon as wanting to know for his own benefits only. Not sure about Elcyrion, I'm inactive!
Shamarah2005-10-22 11:11:50
Lacostian seems like kind of a generic knowledge/mystery god.
Raezon is more of a dark knowledge god.
Elcyron seems, correct me if I'm wrong, like more of a wisdom god.
Unknown2005-10-22 11:15:20
Raezon, I view as more of a "Knowledge=power, you like power right? muwhaha!" god
Ialie2005-10-22 11:36:58
Its pretty complicated. Much I think is paradox. Much is faith in dealing with the tangent and intangible. Now Elcyrion brings a new depth. Balance, Wisdom. Power, now there is truth... I wish I could explain it more. It is hard to put thoughts like these into words. It is a spin on a different perspective, a new way of looking at things.

I guess I can best describe it as that joke of three blind men touching an elephant and saying what an elephant is. One says it feels like a rope, another says it feels like a tree trunk and another says it feels like a large fan. To me these three Gods are are very similiar but look at things through a new and different perspective.

All three are incredibly snuggly; however they differ in kinds of snuggliness. Also, Raezon has fangirl stalkers.

I 'unno, time to goto work.

if you do ever become a god, would we know it's you?
Aiakon2005-10-22 14:18:47
Would I be wrong in saying that in Lusternia Gods don't necessarily have a portfolio as such... much beyond their own specific interests and their circle of elder-god-dom.. Presumably they'll all look for their own niche as much as possible, but there's no RP need for them not to intersect as there was.. say in Achaea or similar..
Unknown2005-10-22 14:24:26
IMHO:

Lacostian: gathering & sharing knowledge
Elcyrion: gathering & sharing ideas, a'la ancient philosophers of Athens
Raezon: gathering knowledge & secrets, not sharing (as the more you know when compared to others, the more powerful you get)

Actually, there is a RP need. Getting recognized for a specialty rewards them in the same sort of way getting recognized for a specialty rewards a shopkeeper.

When I need gemstones, for instance, I go straight to either Neuf or Ialie, because that's what they carry, (Well, they carry jewelry, too, but I don't go to them for that.) I don't waste my time dashing around the commune, sifting through the detritus of stores that carry a little bit of everything. I know where to get what I want, and I go get it.

The worshippers whose activities empower the gods are akin to customers, and the first thing that attracts the attention of potential "customers" is the god's public image. A god without a portfolio is like a store with a big banner out front that says: "This is a store. Come in and buy some stuff."

People may wander up for a closer look, but the first impression opportunity has been completely wasted.
Aiakon2005-10-22 15:06:37
I meant more.. that in Achaea, Sarapis/Makali would create Gods for a particular area, whereas in Lusternia they return from the Void with specialisations in different 'circles'. While there is a game playing need for them to be different.. in terms of RP they don't have to be particularly.
Vix2005-10-22 16:32:17
Aww, you people are forgetting that Roark is a knowledge god too. Poor nekkid god...
Unknown2005-10-22 23:14:09
Roark is just Roark. No further explanation needed.
Unknown2005-10-22 23:23:57
I think Raezon’s path can be summed up with Hassan-i Sabbah’s apocryphal deathbed words, “Nothing is true, everything is permitted.”
Joli2005-10-22 23:29:49
Raezon is the fine line between insanity and genious. How else can you explain him tumbling around Celest? happy.gif (I think he was trying to learn how to roll but he failed cos he's not a furrball)

From what I have talked to Elycrion about he is more about equality and philosophy then just general knowledge. I've been meaning to ask about that but everytime I come around someone else is always talking. sad.gif

Lacostian is the owner (if it can be owned) of the Akashic Journal thingy. He's also pretty big on temperance. I dunno.. he scares Joli so she tends to stay away if it is possible.
