So we have to choose between losing twice the experience anyone else does when we die (and if we burnout it DOES mean we are usually about to die) or losing normal xp and not being able to fight or bash for an hour afterwards even if we do die?

As much as I'd like those changes to occur, I don't really think they should. There needs to be some drawback to using it, otherwise you have a free vitae with extra health. Kind of like a weird combo of lich and surge. And it doesn't completely stop you from fighting or bashing. I don't typically use psionics much in fighting at the moment, and I haven't had forcefield until a recent favour, and I'm decent in both areas. Maybe I could see the xp loss being about half of what it is now though.

Locks a channel, and you take damage to ego instead of health. If you run out of ego, you lose the ability to use psionics for a long time, and some experience, and you start taking damage to your health again.

the xp loss and the burnout is there for one reason that I see, so people don't make triggers to just use ego up when they have these skills. It's a good system, and I want to see it stay.

I agree with Shamarah, the system is fine, solve the problem by having death cure burnout. I mean it cures basically everything else.

I also don't see why it is so terrible to have psionic forcefield burnout cost no experience either - I imagine it costs 10 power to put up, it has disadvantages, and it still leaves them vulnerable to a true death.
Druids have transmigration, mages can have forcefield. *shrug*

Healing can either kill you, or burn you out, either way it's nasty. I know Asmodea acidentally killed herself cause she's Trans, turned out you heal 1/3rd of the targets HP when Transed, I forget who she healed, some Warrior with Surged, heavily damaged, 33% of 8000hp or so, ya hehe, it would kill me too in one cure.
Cured on death, hmm. Well congul deaths off prime really arn't much XP loss, but ya, sounds reasonable. untill people start heartstopping just to get rid of burnout so they can get back in the fight.

if they heartstop, it means they lose at least another 3% or so on top of the psionics burnout, 10-20 power, and would cost their Divine (if they follow one) an extra 30-40k essence that they will need to make up later.
