The recent changes to flow don't mean much to me personally. I've only ever played the one character above level 10, and he's never relied on flow, though he uses it for the ocassional convenience. No biggy.
But it seems to be a huge deal to some people, and some non-combatants -- who miss its simple effectiveness without every having used it to slip in and bop someone else over the head -- are feeling very bitter about it all.
They feel very much abused and persecuted, that their concerns are not being addressed because the people who come to Lusternia for the PvP rush in to shout them down with an army of whys and hows about how this had to be done for the sake of PvP, refusing to acknowledge the fact that non-combatants live here to, or at least to acknowledge that they matter.
So I got curious: are we non-combatants really as rare as all that, or are we just less vocal?

I think the word you're looking for, is "boring".
Unknown2005-10-23 16:05:19
I don't think I've ever gone out of my way to find and kill someone. I will, however, defend myself (using Ethelon's nifty healing system) if I get attacked, or if there is a raid.
EDIT: And yes, you forgot an option. "I never PvP but I do defend my org during raids."

Oh, yeah. I'm boring. Waaaaaay boring. Hoo, boy, am I boring.
Wow. You so nailed me on that one.
Just let me go and break the news to all of Exarius' ladies, then tell everyone lined up in the queue to shower me with hate that I'm simply not worth the effort and they can all go home.

I was assuming that would fall under "strong IC motivation". *shrug*

Sarcasm doesn't really work when you are really just confirming a fact.

But defending is different from PvP...I think...

Hrm PVP with defined RP reasons for me
as in Defening territory, village influencing, and several unique RP reasons towards my character (like right now Anisu is constantly attacking denizens in Celest or taunting Ekard in accourdance to some insanity/hate Celest RP, though I have yet to attack another player I still consider it PVP because I know it will piss off defenders)

Not really since I can always see you coming and usually peering at you is enough to make you leave.
Tsuki2005-10-23 16:46:33
"Strong IC motivation" is too broad. What does it allow? Jumping guild/commune enemies or those of opposing organizations in random places if you see them? Seems like it, hence why I didn't choose that.
I picked the missing option
If someone attacks me, I'll try to escape rather than showing a pitiful attempt at trying to fight back and still losing. This has happened twice, once in Balach when I died to the effects (crushed chest, I think?) and not to an actual strike and didn't get status, and once just outside of Delport when it was open to influence when I did get status.
If some raids the Seren, a Seren-loyal village, Ethereal Serenwilde or Faethorn against the Fae and there's no one else, I'd try to go and defend. I'd still die, unless I'm very lucky or there are a number of others doing all the work ... and if there are a number of others, I likely wouldn't go there in the first place. I've also, during one influencing session, joined with others in a wisp trap.
I've been in an arena twice, I think. Once for the thing with the fly (Frogbaiting?), once for Slippers. If I ever have time, I'd like to go in and learn a bit of defending (defense would help me live longer in order to escape ... or defend against raids).

I am obscenely violent. I simply lack the skill and resources required to actually harm others, which is a good thing for all of you.

Ya, I agree with this, with the acception of the fae, which my charactor feels very strongly about, and is really the only thing he'll actively raid for. and as such he's enemyed to Glom. (got enemied to Mag because gerald is an angry old tainty and thinks I had something to do with killing the earth lords *mutters*)
Ya, Village influencing Defending, includes villages, and Faethorn. Will help out others in need, that sort of thing. I don't run around trying to attack people like others *cough* murphy *cough* do.

hehe "don't make me smite you!" seems to fit there

thats cause Ani likes you and is scared you will convince her back....and ofcourse because she is a little scared girl with the mental age of an 8 year old. Oh and because she is a coward, a big stinking coward.
EDIT: and for the record you don't always see me coming, I have spend days in Celest without being detected, and then doing something stupid like yelling 'I love you Laxinova' or 'want to play Eki'

I hunt with little RP motivation (I can't bring myself to find a reason for bashing, its just something I do), but I don't do PvP.
So... missed an option, pure bashing, no pvp.

I'll PvP if Kymir has motivation to do so. I won't jump or kill random people, I'll jump and kill people who have wounded or upset Kymir, Magnagora, or any of Kymir's close friends.
EDIT: So basically Kymir is a character which is primarily concerned with roleplay but very violent.

I prefer a 50-50 mix of RP and conflict. They aren't mutually exclusive.
The trouble is, most people who say, "I love conflict" really mean, "I love conflict only when I win."
