Riding

There should be a skill that gives like a 50% resistance to being knocked prone while on a mount. It absolutely worthless to have any sort of mount when there are so many many attacks other there that knock prone. If knocked prone, you fall off the mount and must stand and remount, which takes lots of time.

I would also suggest that if on a mount, the first successful attempt to knock prone INSTEAD knocks the mount prone. If you are hit with prone again while the mount is prone, you fall out.

More or less, its just too difficult to stay on the damn thing as is.

You're right, being mounted is completely useless when bashing.
Narsrim2005-10-25 03:46:28
It is useless in combat. Every class has prone attacks that instantly knock you off.

And I always feel so guilty when I accidently abandon my turtle sad.gif
Athana2005-10-25 04:03:07
Yes, transcending riding was pretty disappointing when I found that the whole skillset became useless just by being knocked down. The only time I really use it is in group combat with trample dry.gif Also, not meaning to hijack or anything but it's even more useless when I'm shrouded and people see my mount...which makes it not only bothersome but to my disadvantage. Can we have a shroud mount ability, artifact, or something?

<3 bonecrusher knockdown.

Serisouly, i used to ride a wombat in lusti, until i realised just how useless riding was

Actually I found riding useful despite this. What I couldnt manage though was my mounts being killed every time. People litterally go for my horses before fighting me... spending 120k in a 5 min fight is not easy to make up for, no matter how I looked at it. Then there was the point that I couldnt set traps, so I just forgot the damn skill...

Ill trans it again one day when I have enough credits to get a mountable invincible pet.

Solution! Ask for any classes with ents to be able to ride their pets! So Serenguard can ride timberwolves, and Paladins can bounce around on their retrievers. Celestines can ride their angels, Nihilists their demons, and Moondancers/Shadowdancers can ride a nymph or pooka. biggrin.gif

'Ride' a nymph/maiden...am I the only one having naughty thoughts there? ninja.gif
Terenas2005-10-27 15:23:06
The angels are better. halo.gif
Sylphas2005-10-27 15:40:10
We have brooms to ride. Which is annoying, because Celestines/Nihilists get wings. Brooms are awesome flavor, but means that we don't get innate flying, and can be knocked off and tumble to the ground, and have to make sure we stay on the damn thing to be able to fly when need be.
Kharne2005-10-27 22:01:10
You forgot druids get a might stag, i dont think it can fly tho tongue.gif
Unknown2005-10-27 23:17:43
We can already mount our stags. happy.gif
Athana2005-10-27 23:25:32
And mages can mount their wyrms and turtles

I like this.

Alternatively, what about a high-level riding skill that makes you automatically mount back on your steed when you stand, without balance loss?

blink.gif blink.gif the nymph's and Pooka's are tiny things, anything sitting on them, but a faeling would be an insta kill instead of "sit on chair" "write journal at desk"

it'll be "sit on pooka" "Zenji's Pooka has been slain by weight!" doh.gif

Riding needs to be looked at. While making it harder to be knocked off a mount is very nice for most of the abilities, trampling will become way too good. It's the only reason people bother to learn riding anyway. I think the skillset needs an overhaul to give more useful utilities while lessening its effects on combat. sleep.gif

How can trampling become too good? You can easily heal it faster than the balance recovery.

By itself, Faeling trample can keep someone permanently down, as shown by Tuek on the test server. May be Aslaran too, to a lesser extent. If you add in faes, angel, demon or mages demesne with telepathic daggers, then it might become too much to hande.

Its already too much to handle from a faeling - end of story. That doesn't change if riding changes because a faeling can vault back onto the mount for like 1 second off balance - big deal.
