In eye of the release of the Library system a little while ago and some of the complaints that have been going around we decided that before we would move on toward implementing the next stage of the Culture system, we would give people a chance to voice their concerns and present possible problems they have with the Library system.
Please keep feedback readable and argumented, as flaming will not get anything changed. Also, possible solutions for the problems you see would help, though keep in mind we are not making immense changes, as the system is a positive whale of a coding project, and changing such things would simply take too much effort.

The libraries are still bugged. Copies keep disappearing and I have to spend 5000 gold every time I want to read a copy of a book that should be there only to have it disappear 2 seconds before I can even check out the copy that just made.
So buying copies at this time is really not beneficial to anyone because so often there are no book in the library to read do to the disappearance.
It would really be nice to have a system that allowed you to see where each copy was, who had it, and how long until it would be back. a LIBRARY LOG or something.
Other than that. I really love the system it just can be frustrating.

Books need to be returned automatically and to the library and librarians need to be able to see who has which book, and if the original has been taken out or not.
It would also be nice if categories/subjects can have more then one name, and if a book could be listed under more than one subject.
For example, a book about the Elder wars could go under the subject of Histories, and the subject of Divine.
It would be nice if a scholar came for each book you have in your library, or for every 5 books. Just so its not like we are always forcing scholars to read our books.

Also.. to just add something that does not count in culture score but might be good for the ego of the writer to encourage more writing. Perhaps a way to write good reviews for a book.

Books are automatically returned, but copies that are already in the libraries disappear mysteriously. While you are standing there even.

I want my own library that I can hide in Sylphas' manse that only my friends and guildmates can read.. And no one say that my own library is the one in my pack, because that's just not as cool as having one in my manse.
Ialie, the copy of your book that you gave me has never disappeared. Is it just the copies from the libraries?

I'm afraid I don't really get what you are trying to say here, are you speaking about the scholars that are scattered in the mountains? If so, those are lost, they'll settle for any great library and be happy someone helped them.

The contest system that we are waiting to apply will be a way to generate massive amounts of power for your library as well as add prestiege books. I can imagine that the writers will be rather pleased with their prestiege publications as well.

Yes both Nok and I have both submitted it as a bug. Infact I think I submitted it twice. Once when it first came out, and once just last week.

If it was I would have one heck of a fine to pay by now..
I will have to check out one of our books and see if it poofs on me to test it.
Edit: Oh. it would be nice if Scholars came to both "I'll lead you to a great library" and "I will lead you to the great libraries." I have no idea why you would tell them you would lead them to more than one library since they just stay at one..
I have no idea why that bothers me so much, but it does.

I think this was actually due to the bug that you could check out books(if you knew the right number) even if it wasn't in the library you were at. That should be fixed now, and hopefully the person that wrote libraries will be able to get some of the other bugs fixed as it's an extremely complex system which I only did the basic outline for.
