Woe

by Jasper

Back to Common Grounds.

Well, that was simply... wow.

I really didn't mean that to get as big as it was - truthfully, it was only between Jasper, Elryn, and Viravain. But kudos for everyone that was involved, this is the thing that made me really love Lusternia in the first place.

But in all fairness, for all those involved, I am really sorry. You died and got muted, I didn't mean for all that to happen. And all the people that I have hurt from leaving, now I am really confused on everything.

I needed to leave, really - it was the point where I would leave Lusternia or Glomdoring. I hated the constant conflict, I hated it to death. The idea, the concept of Glomdoring is beautiful, but as I am not a fighter of any form - and that was what I had to become to stay there. Everything has gone bogged down, and I hope that those who I have affected will understand.

sad.gif Sorry.

I'm still going to call you Prince Jasper, you know. worthy.gif
Xenthos2005-10-30 06:00:43
Yeah... wish it didn't come to this. You will be missed :/
Galatae2005-10-30 06:01:13
It was all beautifully done, Jasper. As long as you aren't leaving the game... it's all good, though Josun will be thoroughly upset for a while. tongue.gif

Though it just had to start when I was in the middle of teaching a novice... poor little one. biggrin.gif

EDIT: Wait, I'm not missing something, right? When you said you would leave Lusternia -or- Glomdoring, you did mean the or... right? *suspicious*
Ialie2005-10-30 06:05:44
Someone describe what happened please?
Munsia2005-10-30 06:08:50
Score one for the good guys ninja.gif Well that should brighten up the mood now around seren.
Galatae2005-10-30 06:12:48
I can start from where I came into it... something happened to Jasper - we believed it to be poison, so the members of the Order tried to figure out a cure. We couldn't... so Viravain took Jasper to the tree, where the entire commune prayed for him to be healed of the poison in his mind. He left the Glomdoring and the order, so we prayed for him to return... he kept refusing, we finally decided he needed to open his own eyes, he went to Serenwilde.

My short summary doesn't do the entire event justice. It really was quite beautiful.
Unknown2005-10-30 06:13:08
Thankyou Ibby and Raxilin and anyone else on the Serenwilde end who helped.

I know losing Jasper is a blow to Glomdoring, but I'm so glad he is thinking of returning to Serenwilde.

As always, Viravain, thankyou for being wonderful about it. I just wish we could let Serenwilders follow you. sad.gif

For those who are curious, here is the last part of making Jasper's dead forest in Avaerin... not so evil.

Note I am not as good at this sort of this as Jasper, and just tried to keep up with him in all of it. The room descriptions before and after are his as well. happy.gif
QUOTE

The heart of a dying forest.
The shadowy outline of a twisted forest casts a dark gloom here. Constantly shifting shadows create
a preternatural gloom about the glen, suffocating the space in a hazy darkness. The barren branches
of the trees surrounding reach into their sky, small charms and talismans hung onto them which glow
with a sinister violet light. Man-made knotholes have been dug into the trunks of the trees, inside
them being vials filled with some wretched concoction. The fetid stench of rot whips about the glen
with overwhelming heat. Within the centre is a crude makeshift shrine of stones, branches, and bones
the mount of which being the yellowed skull of a young doe, splattered with blood and thriving with
black moss. Reddened eyes peer through the crevices of the trees surrounding, watching those who
stand within the space. This is truly the home of a feral creature. Prince of Shadows, Jasper,
Nocturnal Adherent is here. He wields a magic tome in his left hand and an athame dagger in his
right.
You see a single exit leading north.

Jasper narrows his eyes at you in an unnerving manner.

You chuckle long and heartily at Jasper.

You say, "So close now... the Awakening is almost complete!"

You beam broadly.

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent hisses, "Do NOT touch MY forest!" As he
gazes at you with wrathful angst.

You say, "It is beyond either of us now, and you know it..."

You have emoted: Elryn kneels and places a hand upon the earth, faint droplets of melody coalescing
around you like an autumn shower.

You say, "Ah, the magics are working!"

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent brings his arms into the air as he howls
wickedly; shadows instanteously flooding the glen crackling with black lightning. The shadows merge
and twist to create beings, the Daughters of Mother Night themselves as he says, "NO! This is mine!
And I WILL stop this!"

You wince in pain.

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent says to you, "My magic is MUCH greater than
yours, I KNOW and I WILL win!"

Jasper glares angrily at you.

You say, "Brother, do not summon this evil!"

You say, "You are not matching your magics only against me, the Forest itself is returning to
life... you cannot overcome it alone."

You say, "Do not scar this place with the shadow!"

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent screams as lashes of shadow being to whip
about his form and the Daughters of Night. The faint whisper of a feminine voice whispers out, "My
child - I come for you." Jasper cackles with glee as he narrows his eyes at you and hisses,
"Brother, the forest shall stay as it was found. My magic will prevail. YOU will LOSE!"

You have emoted: Elryn chants in deep, sonorous tones under his breath, and silver mists emerge from
the ground in a shimmering ring around you, rising up into the air they form a translucent, silver
barrier between the Daughters and the two of you. The faint bellowing of stags rings in your ears as
each shadowy figure attempts to pass through the mist and is repelled.

You begin briskly walking in a wide circle, lifting your knees high, creating a path in the shape of
a ring. As you effortlessly trot along the ringed path, the grace of White Hart within you separates
from your inner being in the form of a ghostly stag, who joins you upon the sacred ringwalk.

You say, "Your magics cannot surpass what is meant to be, Jasper."

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent scowls in rage, as he whips his body with
maddness - flinging whips of tangible shadow begin to fly out as of to attach themselves to the
Daughters, yet get repelled. Storm clouds of pure churning shadow roll overhead, as bolts of black
lightning shoot down about you to destroy your concentration. "This is NOT meant to be! This is
MINE! MINE!"

Jasper drops a shadow cauldron.

Dipping his hand into a shadow cauldron, Jasper pulls out a long shadow and releases it into the
air. The room darkens with the churning darkness.

You whirl your cudgel by one end, sending emerald motes of light flying in all directions.

You say, "Begone, shadows!"

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent says, "MY SHADOW!"

Jasper thrusts an athame dagger into the ground near you, then as he withdraws his weapon from the
ground, your shadow comes with it.

Jasper drops the shadow of Elryn.

You have emoted: Elryn raises his cudgel high above his head, opening his mouth to release a string
of barely comprehensible phrases in a melodic and evershifting tongue. In answer to his call,
silvery-grey clouds gather above the shadowed clearing, crackling with a bluish lightning. A
pressure begins to build in your ears before with a sudden burst they release their water, twinkling
droplets showering down all around you.

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent bows his head in reverence, the whips of
shadow still trying to connect him and the Daughters in perfect union. He chants harshly, audible
for all to hear, "Mother Night, hear and behold your child - as I honour you and your realm. Lift
now the Veil between our worlds so that your loyal child and servant may become one with the Shadows
and merge with you."

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent screams as the bolts of black lightning
strike around Jasper, breaking through the barrier and enabling the whips to connect. In seconds,
Jasper's physical body is shed and all that is left of his form is an unwavering shadow.

You scream, "BROTHER, NOOOO!!"

He is a graceful elfen and is composed of entirely tangible shadow. He is wearing an iron shackle
bracelet, a pair of black socks, a ring of clarity, a dark forestal scabbard, a necklace with a
large onyx scorpion, a wreath of midnight black roses, a glittering dark ruby pentacle necklace, a
set of flowing smoke grey robes, and a silver torc.

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent screeches in rage, his ephemeral form
thrusting itself towards you. You feel an acute cold jut into your stomach and chest, pain and
pressure slowly building up - as if ripping your extremities from the inside out.

You have emoted: Elryn raises his song to a greater level of intensity and a sadness begins to creep
into the fluctuating melody. As each droplet strikes a writhing shadow you hear a hissing and steam
rises up from the inky blackness, while those that land upon a rotting branch or decaying leaf
revitalize the deadened husk, new blossoms and foliage springing forth around you. The crystalline
droplets do not touch your shadowy form, evaporated instantly by the crackling black lightning.

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent glares at his surroundings, withdrawing
himself from your body as he utters chants and other dark words to coil about. The shadows burn with
a brackish green fire mixed with black lightning as it fights off the regeneration with a hasty and
wicked repose and decay.

You begin to wield a golden sickle in your left hand.

You point a golden sickle at Jasper.

You have emoted: Elryn directs a scintillating current of emerald towards you, cocooning you in a
forestal whirlwind of glittering light. The cocoon begins to close about you, trying to contain your
black magics within it and prevent your interference in the renewal going on all around.

You say, "You cannot stop it, Jasper!"

You exclaim, "Embrace the Awakening!"

You exclaim, "This is your destiny!!"

You laugh joyously.

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent screams, his form letting loose an echoing
screech which makes your ears bleed. His body locked by the cocoon of emerald forestal energy, he
writhes as if to redeem control of the battle. His eyes glare at the shadow, screaming, hissing,
yelling as the steam burns away his rot.

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent shakes and writhes, his ephemeral body
burning and hissing as it stays locked by the forestal whirlwind. He cries in pain, both from the
revitalization and his inability to save his forest.

You have emoted: Elryn makes circular gestures with a golden sickle and the whirlwind spins faster
and faster, the emerald magic seeping into your spirit, trying to rework and purify what it can. In
the glen beyond you see broad leafy vines beginning to sprout from the soil, the healing rain
washing away the bleached carcasses and dried blood upon the ground and verdant mosses and ferns
spring up in their place.

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent shrieks as he cringes, his shadowy form
flickering from pure sinuous black to shimmering emerald. A large bolt of intermingled bluish and
black lightning strikes his essence, the whirlwind, everyone within his direct area. Leaves and
flowers fly up with large amounts of dust, his physical body lying pitifully on the ground weakened.

You gently place your hand upon Jasper's forehead, invoking the White Hart to grant him wisdom and
truth. His eyes close momentarily, and an emerald halo flickers about his head.

The Portal of Fate flashes as Tenken steps through, now ready to begin a fresh life in Lusternia.

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent struggles as he whispers faintly, "Night...
I-I-I ha-a-ave.... lo-ost.." His eyes close as he begins to have larbored breathing, falling into
unconsciousness.

You have emoted: Elryn picks himself up after having been flung back from the lightning and with a
final cry that resonates throughout the Avaerin forest, points imperiously towards the very heart of
the glen. The earth around you shudders and all noise seems to dwindle to nothingness, before a
great boom echoes around the clearing accompanied by a blinding flash of emerald light that washes
over everything around you. When you can see again, the forest has finally cast off the final
vestiges of corruption and taint.

Reality bends to your will as the room's appearance is reformed.
The heart of a dark forest.
Superimposed over this location, an ethereal forest reaches up to the sky. Near tangible shadows
loom overhead, with their shadowy grace accenting the haunting beauty of the forest. Standing a
constant vigilant are dark pine trees and rowan, with their verdant branches extending into the sky
above. Naturally made knotholes grace many of the trees, inside them being small candles lit with
violet-dark witchfire and ancient tomes. A warm breeze stirs about the glen, bringing with it the
delicate scent of various wildflowers. Within the centre is an intriguing monolith, a curved
half-shattered wall crafted from some dark opaque stone, covered by the vines and roots of
darkly-hued flowers growing about its base. Standing within the recess of the wall is a regal throne
of jet black marble. A deep impression lies near the massive monolith - covered in bits of glass,
wildflowers and leaves - and the lone caw of a raven pierces the forest, its solemn cry harkening
memories. A black cauldron sits here in a pool of shadows. Prince of Shadows, Jasper, Nocturnal
Adherent is here. He wields a magic tome in his left hand and an athame dagger in his right.
You see a single exit leading north.

You cross your arms over your torso, touching the opposite shoulders and bow your head in reverence
to the White Hart for a moment. A soft flowing sound reaches your ears, and you look up to see a
spirit totem shimmer into existence.

You have emoted: Elryn comes to kneel beside you, concern now evident in his eyes. Softly, he says
to you, "A great working was done here, brother, and not only to the forest around us."

Prince of Shadows, Jasper Greythane, Nocturnal Adherent murmurs softly as he slightly shifts.

You have emoted: Elryn takes a piece of cloth dampened from the healing rains which slowly
dissipate, and wipes it across your brow. He murmurs, "Let the grace of the White Hart soothe your
hurts, release it brother, all of it."

You give a concerned look to Jasper.

You say, "This is Her doing."

You say, "If She would release you, then you could heal."

You crease your brow in a frown.

Then I went to speak with Viravain, and after that, Jasper got wisked away.

Edit: The poison would be Elryn's magics, I assume.
Galatae2005-10-30 06:36:46
Indeed... poison, illusions, Elryn's magic... it was all the same thing. Just in case anyone reading this account is confused. smile.gif

I don't think it had anything to do with us, Munsia.

And I do feel for the players of Glomdoring, which is why I'm sort of glad Jasper isn't there anymore. sad.gif
Munsia2005-10-30 07:00:36
You want them to feel bad? unsure.gif
Unknown2005-10-30 07:01:51
No, but he clearly wasn't enjoying Lusternia at all when he was there.
Munsia2005-10-30 07:08:02
oh I thought you ment all of glomdoring
Unknown2005-10-30 07:09:40
Not at all. We're all players. I don't even think I will try raiding over the issue... I think things are bad enough.
Shikari2005-10-30 07:16:53
Actions bring reactions.

As for Glomdoring, I'm quite comfortable in saying that things will get better, and I don't think it'll take long for it to do so.

Loss of people never helps, however, but it does happen.
Bau2005-10-30 07:23:48
Munsia, quit being so nasty.

I was a Seren originally, too. Who cares?

Glomdoring just lost someone quite important to them, and all you can do is be nasty. Just quit it already, please. We're allowed to be upset without you adding your two worthless cents.
