Not sure if this has been brought up before, but I figure its worth mentioning. I keep noticing botched says to people. Like someone might do something like 'say to arcune Bah!' so we'd have them saying 'to arcune Bah!' and that tends to ruin the moment. Its a horrible feeling when in the middle of a great roleplay moment, someone does that because of a mispelling or the targetted person leaving.
I was thinking instead of having to do 'say to' the command could just be 'sayto', and if the targeted person wasn't in the room, the say wouldn't go through. So 'sayto arcune Bah!' wouldn't work, but 'sayto acrune Bah!' would do what 'say to acrune Bah!' does now.

'Tis at least an intriguing idea.

Small, but useful change. I'm all for it. I'd put it along with removing that annoying thing where typing part of the name of a person without a say sends a tell to them.

No no no! I have to do that to talk to Astrasia...I can't type her name on the fly like that!

Good idea for the change!
Shamarah2005-11-04 01:15:15
I like it.

EDIT: Nevermind.
Great idea.

sayto acrune Most excellent!!
tsaephai2005-11-04 20:18:52
that'd be really good! i really hate standing in a large room and then the person i'm talking to leaves and then i feel really stupid in the middle of there...
i'd imagine most people would, also, but i don't know, not being most people myself.

I feel even more stupid when that happens with emotes. I wish the 'untargeted' emote would only happen when you didn't include a target at all, and not when the target failed to be identified.
With the difference between some of the targeted and untargeted emotes, the results of a small typo or the target walking out can be downright creepy.

I think it'd be neat to have it.
And about changing tells - I'm quite sure some IRE has a CONFIG option that lets you choose whether you want to be able to send tells without using TELL or not. That way everyone gets their favourite.

One of the best ideas I've heard! I hate spoliing RP because of that...
Acrune2007-06-03 18:05:36
Just thought I'd bump this, as it will likely be more of a problem with glamours making people look like other people, and the 'say to' isn't going to work. So if you see Acrune somewhere, and try to say something to him, but its not actually Acrune, you're going to look silly.
Shamarah2007-06-03 20:19:11
Yes please.
Sylphas2007-06-03 20:32:57
That would rock.
Noola2007-06-03 20:47:01
I like it! I'm never sure what to do when the person I'm talking to moves or I typo their names cause I'm in a hurry and screw up the say to thing. I always feel like a jackass when it happens.

Yes please.
Richter2007-06-03 21:49:00
My immersion goes PLUNK when that happens.
