Features from other games

There are several features from other MUD which I'd like to see in Lusternia. Quite a few of them are from other IRE games, which is good, since it can't be all that hard porting Rapture code from one of them to the other. Since Ialie had LOOK AT ON copied from Imperian, ( wub.gif whomever implemented that) I'm going to ask for those things, too.

Aetolia's custom emotes:

In Aetolia, you can EMOTE rolls his eyes at $kalodan, sighing at $him.

Kalodan would see: Verithrax rolls his eyes at you, sighing at you.

Everyone else sees: Verithrax rolls his eyes at Kalodan, sighing at him.

Imperian's languages:

In Imperian, if you say something in a language someone else doesn't understand, the person listening sees a description of the language. For example,

'Verithrax says something in a lilting, gracious tongue' if I was speaking Elfen, and 'Verithrax says something in a complex series of growls and roars interchanged with guttural syllabes' for Aslaran.

And of course, HERALDRY" cool.gif

Anyone else has anything to add? Lots of good ideas out there waiting to be stolen.

stuff

There is already a thread on the Aetolia emotes - I posted it. And also there are numerous threads about the racial speech thing. I suggest you look at those first.

Edit:

Found the threads:

As for heraldry, many a post similar to 'Please god don't implement heraldry' can be found I think.

Don't torment us! Heraldry was ugly and horrible. I honestly twitched when some of my character's..closer..friends got theirs done. tongue.gif

Murf. Heraldry is actually quite interesting if you take the five minutes necessary to learn how to understand a blazon.

Heraldy was worthless, no one had any idea what it meant, It's a bad bad bad idea, and we shouldn't have it. It was the biggest waste of money ever in Achaea.
Verithrax2005-11-06 00:11:17
Also, another thing I'd like to see in Lust, rings (From Imperian, called 'parties' in Achaea) which are basically channels that can be formed at any time, by anyone, freely, and last as long as there's people in the realms participating in them. Very useful for organizing raids, hunting parties, wedding parties, or just having one more channel to spam.

That's what clans are for!

During that Kethuru event a bunch of people were invited into Panda and we conversed there and kept track of the shards retrieved smile.gif

No they're not. Clans are organizations. Rings are just maleable groups of people you put together when you feel like it, to do whatever. Say you have a large group of people doing something, and you need a common channel for them. Rings don't cost 500k, but they're not permanent and you can only have one at a time. The point is that you can make a channel at a whim to do whatever, and then dissolve it when you don't need it anymore. Think of making a ring for everyone influencing a village, keeping spam off CT. Or making a ring so that people of different orgs can talk without needing to put them on the same room or invite them to a single clan. And most important of all, think of making a ring for everyone on a windy mountain location! cool.gif

EDIT: Rings would let you do that without having to own a clan, and without having to discharge people afterwards, Athana. smile.gif

So, basically destroy Wiccan Covens and Telepathic Mind Link thingies - and then give them to everyone?

Which game was Haraldry from. Just curious and want to take a look.

Edit: Never mind. Looked over the thread again. Ithink someone mentioned it was Aechea, or however you spell it.

There is already a post on this as well, I suggested we have an artifact that's like a flag or a standard that lets you create a form, and you can do formtells, etc. This was actually a feature in a MUD called Exile, that my friend used to play.

The idea was either shot down, or ignored, I can't remember which.

Guttural syllables? Guttural syllables?!! wtf.gif

Let the lobos speak German if they like. The sibilance of Aslari sounds more like a Romance language, probably closer to Spanish than to any other earthly language.

Hmph. Guttural syllables indeed.

More things we need:

Assassins! (Imperian's Assassin system, not Achaea's mark system.) Of course, in Lust, an assassin wouldn't get status for killing someone - the contractor would. And the same person can't be an assassination target twice in a period of 30 days, to prevent abuse.

And org clans, also from Imperian:

ANNOUNCE NEWS #673
Date: 11/3/2005 at 19:47
From: Lord Avasyu, the Creator
To : Everyone
Subj: City, Council and Guild Clans

You can now officially assign ownership of a clan to a city, council, or
guild. The command to do so is CLAN SET ORGANIZATION . A leader
can then use the command CITY|COUNCIL|GUILD CLANLEADER leader> to change the clan head.

Penned by my hand on the 16th of Bellum, in the year 476 AD.

We need that one. Nearly all cities and guilds have clans.

No, just no. We dont need people to get paid for killing people.

But it's the only way I'd manage to get anyone killed. Even novices are tankier than me. losewings.gif

Then why kill them? dry.gif That's kind of pointless, i mean if you cant kill them, why should you pay for someone else to kill them for you, if they've killed you enough, just get Avenger to do it.

They annoy me. Sometimes you want to see a person you can't kill yourself dead.
