Poison revamp

A lot of warriors seem to be displeased with how effective their venoms are, what with resilience and a multitude of other abilities making them very ineffective against anyone good. I got to thinking, what if the chance of a poison hitting was increased drastically but they were changed so that a poison would only work often if you hit the correct body part?

For example, the venom that shrivels legs would have almost zero chance of working if you struck your opponent in the head or chest, but would trigger nearly all the time on someone with low resilience, ect. if you targetted legs. Some would be unaffected by body part, such as slickness or paralysis, and their chances of going off would remain about the same as now.

Poisons are only an addition in warriors combat, wounds are the point of it. That's why the chance of them hitting is low, it would be overpowered otherwise. It shouldn't be increased.

As Estarra mentioned some time ago, warriors aren't meant to be the main users of Poisons. They are just an addition for warriors to use that can give them to edge if need be, so I can't see poisons being upgraded for warriors.

Who is supposed to be the main users of poisons? huh.gif

edit: And poisons have a nasty effect of running through veins, so its getting into the bloodstream and then going down to the legs to shrivel them maybe

Another new archetype. Seems quite obvious it's gonna be something sneaky - spy/assassin.

And, druids use poison for fetishes now, right.
Hajamin2005-12-10 17:16:18
Mages use them as well.
Unknown2005-12-10 17:18:47
Oh right, daggers. However, none of those seem like the main users of poisons. smile.gif
Diamondais2005-12-10 17:30:02
Mages dont use daggers, Wiccans do. Dont think Ive seen a mage use poisons yet, if theres a future archetype thats cool. Only once seen a Druid use a fetish and theer werent any poison effects. So please excuse my obliviousness laugh.gif

Mages use daggers in Telekinesis, they make 'em float around and stab people.
Diamondais2005-12-10 17:35:11
oh, that makes sense now *makes mental note to find out what other weapons are used*

Poisons need to be able to be used by more classes... maybe demesne mages can somehow infuse the poisons into their melded area so when someone breaks meld, they take an affliction or something. Or let pets or hunter companions get metal fangs that deliver a poison. Or any other hairbrained ideas.

Can't wait for the assassin archtype.

Can we not have mages do that? please? its already hard enough waiting minutes whilst the mage I spars demesnes the arena AND embeds enough runes/motes to last a spar. If you added poisons I bet a few could take the whole spar time just setting up.
Narsrim2005-12-11 00:40:05
It also makes no sense for mages to release a vial of poison when you break a meld. That's the most random, off-the-wall idea.

Hell, let's have my fae explode into poison gas clouds if someone kills them then! I can see it now:

Syntax: FEED POOKA CHARBYDON

Unknown2005-12-11 00:56:06
I don't see this as an upgrade so much as a change to make it more interesting. *Shrug*
Narsrim2005-12-11 01:06:44
Read your first post. Think about it. And tell me how that's not a MAJOR upgrade? You could just apply the venoms each time you swing per part and essentially get a 100% affliction rate.
Acrune2005-12-11 01:59:12
Any warrior that complains that they can't afflict enough needs a good bitchslap. Yes, against other warriors with trans resilience, its a little low. But warriors are already enough of a bitch without such an upgrade. I consider myself slightly above average when it comes to mages, and any half-decent warrior still afflicts significantly faster then I can.

Actually, since so many people are always bitching about the Geomancers demesne, would it be possible for poison gas to instead of making them more hungry do a certain type of venom. Say they need to have the vial of the venom then, GEOCAST POISON *type*. Though there would be a restriction to what venoms could be put there. I mean since it's really meant to be a poison gas, why not have it use actual poisons?

Now imagine 2 passive envenomed daggers along with this poison gas. doh.gif
Unknown2005-12-11 02:09:32
As i said, a few select venoms, and shield stops daggers, and protection stops demesne. Not really that hard to stop it, i mean everyone always bitches about, ohh noes, geomancers demesne is so annoying.
