Hmm, having just arrived back after a couple of days absence, I hear our guild has been told not to use dreamweaving at all because of a bug that occurs when the dreamer is raised into the trees.
Is it still a problem, or can we use our skillset again?
(Realistically, this was always going to be a problem anyway. Invulnerability wasn't part of the deal, methinks. )

Not sure why Niara said not to use dreamweaving at all, maybe she didn't understand the nature of the bug... just don't be asleep in the trees when doing it.

She doesn't like dreamweavers, I don't think. But I thought it might be something passed on from higher up.

Unless you see a posting by an Administrator, you can assume it's not true.
Niara2005-11-11 13:16:27
Well, when I wrote the note it wasen't possible to affect Etanru with violet while he was there with his dreambody, not just by me but by everyone in the room. He was so kind to leave then after we notified him that there was something wrong.
Murphy2005-11-11 15:42:29
Isn't this a question for ISSUE ME rather than the forums?

And the lesson of today is: If you find a bug, keep abusing it untill the admin confirm that it really is a bug. Only they are able to determine whether or not something is a bug. Dreamweavers being invincible in the trees can't possibly be a bug, you silly player you, Niara.

Or you could... report it so an Administrator can make that choice. This particular bug still does not have a report. And feel free to abuse bugs, just don't be suprised when you find yourself a shrub.
Thorgal2005-11-11 17:45:23
But you just said, unless an administrator posts that it is a bug, it isn't a bug:
If something isn't a bug, why wouldn't dreamweavers be allowed to use it?

Thorgal, you have a tendency to twist words and cheapshot at people that takes away all credibility to your posts. You should try to stop doing it, so when you offer constructive criticism as you've done in the past it's heard.
Attacking Hajamin in the forums, well, won't help much your cause I think.

Except that is what Hajamin said... essentially, "Keep on using it because unless we post, it's not a bug... but if you abuse a bug, we'll shrub you." I admit I'm a bit confused by that, too.
Edit: If you determine that it is a bug after the fact, will those who used it while being told it wasn't one be shrubbed? Will they be grandfathered, but anyone after that gets shrubbed? What if you don't post about it (I know you don't post about every single bug)?
Iridiel2005-11-11 18:04:27
Frankly, after all the times that a skill has been forbidden to be used by players based on the existance of an unreported bug (remember, a bug isn't a bug until you get a nice report telling people who don't use the skills but code them that it's a bug), I understand Hajamin answer about waiting for an admin to say something. Specially since the dreamweaving bug wasn't reported.
As always there's the intentionality. If you abuse a bug because honestly, you didn't know it was a bug, I very much doubt you'd be shrubed. Otherwise, we would have a great garden around, as usually the way to discover a bug is by using it If you purposely use it without reporting it or after knowing is a bug, I am sure you'll grown leaves.

Xenthos2005-11-11 18:06:38
But a potential bug was just reported, and we were told to keep on using it. So... that part is out. This removes the entire "intention" department, we were just *told to keep using it*. If it is determined a bug, what happens to everyone who listened and abused it?
Edit: They do not do announcements for every single bug. The best we can do is say "Something seems odd here, we shouldn't be using this. So, everyone, stop using it until the Divine get to check it out."
We were just told that this is no longer the case, and that we need to abuse it until an announcement is made... I prefer the old way, honestly.

Reported? Seems you reported it bad...
Xenthos2005-11-11 18:09:55
Avaer's posting of it here on the forums makes it a report. I'm not personally a dreamweaver, but now every dreamweaver who reads the forums knows it exists and knows how to use it. As well as knowing that it's perfectly legal to keep on doing it until there is an announcement to the contrary.

No, it does not. We have said repeatedly bugs are NOT reported via the forums, and no bugs will be looked into until they are reported in the proper manner. As of yet, still no report has been made about a suspected bug.
If a bug is so serious that we need people to stop using a skill/skillset, we will do as we have in the past and make an announcement about it.
Shikari2005-11-11 18:28:15
Yeah, with Hajamin on this one.
The coders work hard enough as is, we'd have to actually give them extra caffeine in their coffee if you wanted them to go through the forums looking for bugs...
The moral of the story is, the BUG command is your friend!

I think you'll find I use the bug command frequently. I still have a number of them sitting around, though. I realize that the coders are already overworked and behind on fixing things, nor am I saying to check through the forums seeking every single bug... but to the playerbase, when something is stated on the forums as being "odd" and a response to it is "Keep on using it," we're going to wonder.
Edit: What I'm saying is, I'd prefer the half of it that says "Please report it via the bug command so that we can explore it," leaving out the approval to keep on using something that may be odd until then. Just say "If something seems EXTREMELY misweaved, report it and stop using it until we have a chance to check it out, thanks."
