I am thinking about reincarnating into either a loboshigaru or taurian. Anyone have an opinion on which they think is best

Important facts
1. I am a damage knight( might switch to wounding)
2 . I am a level 66 paladin

just wanna get some see which you all think i should reincarnate into, i have already though about how i am going to rp the which and how to rp the races.
If you there would be a better race please don't hesistate to post it.

I would go taurian. They have awesome strength, also resistance to cutting. 3/4 knight specialties are cutting.
Narsrim2005-11-10 21:35:55
Taurian. I think people are turned off at the idea of being a bovine super hero, but in general, I'd say the race is far better for a damage knight because of the better strength.
Murphy2005-11-11 03:01:48
for sure taurian, thats some nice resistances good base con and the str is just awesome. You can be wounding with that str too don't forget.

Taurians make awesome damage knights go with it

Well I am now seriously thinking about going taurian, my only concern with both choices is that my surge will utterly suck.
Daganev2005-11-11 03:30:33
What weapon are you using? Krokani are better.
Unknown2005-11-11 03:58:06
I am a blademaster

Taurians are superior in every way. I can't believe you are comparing it with an ugly, fleabag race such as Loboshigaru. mad.gif

OOC wise, Taurian is nicely balanced, although mana is still a weakness. The high strength everyone talks about isn't as useful as it seems though. Since it only lasts for 60 to 90 seconds and takes a 2 to 3 seconds balance to put it up again.

Now Loboshigaru has 1 less strength normally (3 with Taurian enraged) but has a much higher dex for landing wound afflictions and a smaller size for less hinderance. It's a good trade-off. The level 3 regeneration when used with surge more than make up for the Taurian resistances, although the level 2 susceptible to magic is going to hurt.

However, I think the obvious choice for a paladin (with sacraments) would be a Merian Lord: high str, high dex, high con and 13 int! Plus faster eq and level 2 health and mana regen in water. Although, you will need a lightning-proofed cloak to fight against those with elemental runes.

I think the leve 2 weakness to fire and lightning will hurt to much to go merian lord

At lower levels may be. Diamante as a Mugwump could just stand there and tank my attacks (400 damage axe with elemental runes) indefinitely, or at least until arena time-out. He is a poisonist too, so no forging runes to buff his armour. sleep.gif

So what your saying is go taurian for lower levels and imperial merian for higher levels.

As far as I know, lightning cloaks do -not- work as they were never meant to be enchantable on cloaks.
Icarus2005-11-11 07:23:00
I would go Merian Lord all the way, to save myself 100 crs. But that's just me. tongue.gif
Ekard2005-11-11 09:14:44
Yea. Merian Lord is awaysome, just Ixion and Daevos hurts a lot and others with lightning weapons.

I changed for Igasho cose i wanted be a damage knight, 21 srt that i get with it was really nice, but you cant be damage knight wichout elemental runes and i wont buy them for long time. So now i changed on human cose on this level stats are almost same as merian lord and bonus to exp and no disadvantages.

And yes Taurian and Loboshigaru are nice too.

I realy have no idea wich would be better, Loboshigaru most likely if you can trans magic.

Hmm. Loboshigary, L3 racial regen, mercy, honor, and athletic regeneration. I wounder if i would need ever sip health.
Anyone know will they all stack?
Or maybe still it will be like L3 regen?

How come you need artifact elemental runes to be a damage knight, and all i see is people with the artifact lightning ones, and not every race has weakness to lightning right
Narsrim2005-11-11 15:32:10
Oh my Merian Lord > Taurian + Loboshigaru by far. Knights have uber health... you can shrug off that little it of extra damage easy.

It's also harder to get +resistance to lightning, and it bypasses armour completely. There are a couple of races with huge penalties, so lightning is immensely painful to them. It just turns out to be the best rune for these reasons. And you need the rune... especially against other knights... because it's pretty easy to get physical / blunt resistance in the form of armour. The runes allow 33% of your damage to bypass that completely.
Murphy2005-11-11 17:21:26
yeh, there are almost no racial resistances to lightning (there never used to be before the changes anyway, and most rune buyers bought before the changes)

Also, you can't get a lightning def from a potion nor a cloak (you need robes)

If i had my time again though i'd probably go fire and cold just to be different
Unknown2005-11-11 23:21:08
If you are planning blademaster and damage heavy go Igasho. No way around it. I was taurian, not fun... even with racial fixes.
Murphy2005-11-12 00:26:11
bah dont listen!! taurian has excellent stats and resistances against most damage knights, and most of everyone else!

I want to go taurian just so I can hand ixion's ass to him with my l2 resistances to all his shit
