The Aethercity of Deepnight

Hello once again to all of you! It's that time again, where I go off about my place, what oppurtunities lie there, and how you can be a part of it! The neat thing is though, that every time I do this, we've made some large advancements from the last time!

The Aethercity of Deepnight is a manse for anyone of all organizations. I wouldn't build such a large place for just myself, so all are welcome to come visit. We encourage others to purchase rooms for themselves, as a second home, or even for some, a first home. Rooms cost 140000gp, which is quite a deal, as manse boxes actually cost 150000, so I will chip in ten thousand gold to anyone who wishes to buy a home.

What are the benefits? You will have access to a large manse, populated by free thinkers, and those who wish to have a quiet home away from home. No violence is allowed within the aethercity, and such actions will gain one enemy status, and they will not be able to enter Deepnight on their own.

The manse will have some of the following areas, and actually has some of them already built:

-The Merchant's Guild Tradehall
-A casino airship (D.N.S. Stroke of Luck)
-A large forest-type area (this is no regular city, think a commune and city mixed)
-The home of the Mirh Barosi
-An outdoor market
-A park
-A school or academy
-And anything else we think up!

Deepnight currently has a store and endurance regeneration, but will eventually have (a good bit of this being within the massive Merchant's Guild tradehall):

-a privacy gem, for private conversations
-willpower regeneration at the fulcrux as well
-an oven
-a forge
-a tailoring bench
-a jewelry bench
-a chessboard
-aether seeds (for a flower garden)

Deepnight also has connections to Avechna's peak, Celest, Glomdoring, and Magnagora, allowing you to access it from any of those places (note that if you're enemied to one of those, please don't enter it from my manse).

The city looks something like this right now

Edit: Picture removed, I posted an updated version below, and the most current one is always in my signature.

But should eventually look something like this

Edit: Map was huge, and out of date. Check my signature for the most recent updates.

Contrary to popular belief, I will not be able to create this entire place myself. In simple terms, it's really really freaking expensive. I may be adding ten or so rooms to it soon, but we still have about 12 million gold (not -that- much if you're buying credits) and the artifacts to purchase.

Anyone who wishes to purchase a room, donate funds, add ideas (we're trying to be a pretty free-thinking place), or simply watch how it goes, can be added to the clan, which functions as the CT (which would stand for community tell tongue.gif No city or commune here boyo). You can be assigned the "visitor" rank, or a CR. The structure (minus the 30+ members of this clan) looks like this:

Twilight's Favoured- CR6
Magistrate of Mysteries- CR5
Aspirant of Enlightenment- CR4
Keeper of Secrets- CR3
Yeoman of Dusk- CR2
Initiate- CR1
Enlightened Council
Visitors

For those who want to be inducted, simply ask Karrah, Melanchthon, or myself. If you wish to know more, or have a greater interest than just being a part of day to day life, do contact me, and we can chat.

Tours will be given upon request, maps will be updated when nessecary (shown in my signature, dated), and we will grow into a properous community, surpassing the cities and communes themselves (we already beat the villages!) in their size, and maybe even someday, in thoughts and dreams themselves.

-Richter/Marc

Edit: If the images don't come up the first time, try and refresh, that worked for me. Also, the current map is always located in my signature. PM me if there are any more technical issues.

Thanks to those that helped donate, and thanks to my employer for, you know, paying me. Here's an updated map:

Edit: More awesome and updated map in my signature currently.

Sounds good. But, I wish I could even save up that much gold. I have to find a better hunting spot.
Richter2005-11-16 06:27:19
Buy credits, support Lusternia.

Or find a better hunting spot.
Manjanaia2005-11-16 17:51:47
How much has that place cost you personally Richter in terms of dollars, if you don't mind me asking?
Richter2005-12-06 07:01:15
Starting to look like a real nexus. wub.gif

Grand Plaza of Deepnight.

You feel hidden powers in this room. The shadowy outline of a twisted forest
casts a dark gloom here.
Perpetually bathed in moonlight, this wonder has become
somewhat of a meeting place for those that reside here. The beauty of the scene
is enhanced by the silver street lamps that surround the circular plaza, and the
fountain that throws water into the air every so often. This fountain is quite
large, and the short stone wall that surrounds it allows for a multitude of
people to sit around it at any given time. Red brick covers the ground of the
plaza, spiraling outward in concentric circles, and the spray from the fountain
coats the adjacent bricks with sparkles that reflect the lamplight. The great
Merchant's Guild tradehall is visible to the east, a large and beautiful
structure. Stairs weave upwards in a spiral to the stone archway above, housing
some citizen or family, and offering a spectacular view. The quiet beauty that
is Deepnight stretches in all directions, and the vision of the sky is only
limited by the mysterious haze on the outskirts of the community.
A black
direwolf is here, blending in with the shadows. A powerful stallion stands firm
here, head held proudly. A blue roan ambles about here, tail swishing.
A sign
here suggests you READ SIGN!
A sigil in the shape of a small, rectangular
monolith is on the ground. An obsidian eye sigil is here. Lycosa stands alert
here, eyes glimmering. A small key lies on the ground here. Lying flat on the
ground is a key-shaped sigil. A shimmering black morphling is here, pulsing
gently.
Citera is here. He wields a mystic cudgel in his right hand. Syrel is
here. He wields a magic tome in his left hand. Spirit of the Shadows, Maelee
Carthan, Murphy's Babygirl is here. She wields a tower shield of twilight blue
steel in her right hand. Lirathea Carthan is here. She wields a sinuous jade
rapier in each hand. Princess Penelope Whytetower, Lady of Shadows is here,
shrouded. She wields a magic spatula in her left hand and an athame dagger in
her right. Apprentice Joli, ays Zuyrl Lyreth is here. She wields a twisted staff
in her left hand. You see a sign here instructing you to use the PORTAL command
to enter the aetherplex system.
You see a sign here instructing you that WARES
is the command to see what is for sale.

You see exits leading north, northeast, east, southeast, south, southwest,
northwest, and up (open door).

That one room must be taunting you.

Ah, I have an idea. You should advertise to those people who are looking forward to actually buy their own manse, but would rather spend less money. Don't write "it costs 150 000 gold for a room, but you can have one at Deepnight for 140 000", write "a one-room manse costs 350 000 gold, but you can have a room in Deepnight just for 140 000 - that's less than a half".

Mr Obvious strikes again! *pose*

Already do, just depends which ad I feel like running at the moment. I say that for the price of one, they can get 2 rooms and 50k in spending money. smile.gif
Richter2006-01-12 18:38:07
A new room or two lately, from private citizens, I'll update the map soonish.

Just remember, cheap rooms, and we have a clan!
Verithrax2006-01-14 01:28:59
It's not a real Nexus until you see newbies snuggling there. biggrin.gif
Richter2006-01-25 18:29:59
Amazing to see how far I've come from this post. And Rhysus' fake log on there is hilarious.

In any case, we've got a few new rooms, and for any people in the clan, there's now an alternate map that lists which room belongs to whom. We're also going to start treating it like a real organization, for what it's worth.

Anyone interested in minister of culture, assistant librarian, or the like can contact me.

I'm to 99 rooms and 43 members, about half of my whole goal. smile.gif
Exarius2006-01-25 20:55:39
But when can we start hunting rats in the sewers?
Richter2006-01-25 21:03:08
When I get sewers. smile.gif

Hehe, just kidding. I've asked about various things before, like a casino or bank, back when I had about 20 rooms. I'm still shooting for 200 rooms and 100 people; I figure I'm in little position to ask for things (even if I'm willing to pay) if I've got some little hole in the wall place that's small and lame.
Anu2006-01-25 21:46:35
Okay, forgive my ignorance, but... what's the grand scheme, here? What -is- Deepnight, anyway?
Ialie2006-01-25 21:50:54
A very large manse that Richter wants to turn into a city.
