All throughout history, there have been pivoting points for the process of thought, be it analytical, introspective, or retrospective. These pivoting points are acredited to several great thinkers such as Aristotle, Plato, Michelangelo Buonaroti, Confucius, et cetera. Lusternia can be no different, since it is a similation of a growing and evolving world.
So here is the question. Who will be acredited, if Lusternia were a real world, with being a "great thinker"?
Discuss.

Uh...not many out there. Maybe Gwylifar, Elryn, Rhysus and Ashar/Nokraenom.
The rest are just some battlethirsty mob.

I'm a great thinker
Unknown2005-11-22 16:24:52
Instead of just naming people off, name them and explain why.
Ashteru2005-11-22 16:35:26
Ashar - Ever read one of his books? They leave you speechless.
Nokraenom - Talking to him was always very interesting, but he can't beat Ashar.
Elryn - Had some interesting philosophical things going on with some music of the forest or something, and generally, he seems to study Glomdoring.
Rhysus - I don't know that much, but from what I heard IC, he was hell of a philosophical type.
Gwylifar - His whole talk about spiritual things, as well as his long posts on some subjects on the Serenwilde board mark his way.
Whatever...I have a headache, so I might talk a bit weird.

I'd say, Rexali- His work towards restoring the lost cities, his research. He seemed quite intelligent.
Never spoken with Ashar or Nokraenom in game. Rhysus seems to be quite intelligent as well, but memorable, I don't know. What does it take to be 'remembered' Socrates-style? Some huge contribution? Has anyone made one?

Socrates was the founding father of Western Philosophy. So I would say anyone who has made a huge contribution to any major philosophy, religion, science, or humanities.
And for the second question, I haven't seen anyone made that sort of contribution yet. Though, hopefully this thread will change that.
Asarnil2005-11-22 16:52:31
Hmm, well you could say Chade considering his work at the beginning, Magnagora would have been on the ass end of a two front war a LOT earlier if it wasn't for his work.
Revan2005-11-22 16:53:37
Azrion's also a great thinker. He has... HOW many publications?
Daganev2005-11-22 19:01:59
Only one name comes to mind.. Elcyrion.
Joli2005-11-22 20:09:56
Elcyrion owns your soul.
Rhysus was good, but a bit prideful in game, as in he had a god complex which was very scary. He helped get Celest started in the very beginning and has written several things on how the pool was created. Though I don't understand much of what he wrote..
Joli is more of a free spirited maverick/philanthropist, so no one name me unless you really think so.

visaeris, i'd think. his plan was brilliant!
Shamarah2005-11-22 20:30:25
Rhysus, definitely.
And Azrion just spams the library with tiny little essays on random topics

Honestly... if Rhysus was as great as people said he was (which he wasn't) Celest would have been far far better than it was at his reign. Combat wouldn't have been an issue under a great leader. Rhysus was hardly a "great thinker", he just spoke big words to make himself look intelligent. He didn't do anything.

"Words are like light. The more concentrated they are, the more deeply they burn."
I really wish I remember which writer I'm quoting, but I've truly found them words to live by.
The revolutionary thinker is not one who rambles on, but who streamlines and simplifies an idea so that it becomes accessible to others.
Daganev2005-11-22 21:47:11
Elcyrion is the first god to come out and say "Your all doing it wrong, this is the new way to go" and thats what "great" thinkers are suppose to do. Give you a new direction.
I can't think of anyone who has done this save Elcyrion and his mortal supporters. Yes there have been people who have tried this before, but nobody has wording things in a way that would actually change anyone's behavior.

I still think Elcyrion pwns you all on being a great thinker. The way he puts things is awesome and amusing at the same time! If you've never talked to him about something you really should, because he's just a really wonderful person.
And before you say it.. I'm not physically attached to him.

Skyla did a heck of a lot of research and creation for the Moondancers while she was in leadership, so I will say her.
