I'm sure there is a similiar topic somewhere around here, but I don't care.
Anyway: just watched. My reaction: must... breathe... what a breathtaker. I would officialy consider it better than Advent Children, if only it was a lil' bit longer.
I wonder would Square consider hiring these people to make the rest of FF VII into an anime. The effect would be impossible to describe by words. Although some episodes, for example Wall Market (+Don Corneo, whom we all love - don't we? ) would look... interesting.

It was okay. It could've been longer, like you said, though.
I'm more interested in a remake or the other FF7 games they plan to release. Gackt is doing some music for Dirge of Cerebus sooo..

Isn't it just a rumor? It'd be great if it was not, however.

Last order? What's this now?
Square-enix says they have no plans currently to re-release this game (but it is possible someday).
Edit: Though they did redo the opening movie for E3. Anyone see that?

Nah. Dirge of Cerebus (Vincent's game) and Crisis Core (Zack and Cloud's story) are planned for release soon (In Japan).
Not sure if they plan on remaking FF7, but they said it'd take years to complete if they did. Nomura said if he were to do it he'd wait until Kingdom Hearts 2 was completed.

Uh, not everyone is into Anime though?
I mean, personally i'd prefer it if they didnt pokemonise one of the most amazing franchises (well for me, games) that exists. I'd rather not see it raped royally and turned even more fanboy than it already is.
Anime is what my 9 year old siblings watch, i've seen enough "HNNYYUUUU! Nyanzetsukeyen hyaieeee!! *dragonball Z style flying around blowing each other up and coming out without a scratch*" melodramatics to last me a lifetime.

Pssh.. don't judge anime by Dragonball Z alone, but I guess I agree only because I don't think it's necessary and would rather a next gen remake (Besides.. if I have to play a FF14 or something I'm going to get sick).

I stopped caring about the games at FF9 anyway, the new ones dont matter to me cause they cater to the new generation of dumbed down games players who need chunky visual cues in their face to know what to do.
7 and 8 rock my world.

I'm not surprised to find this thread hijacked already.

I hated FFX. The sphere grid pissed me off on so many levels. But yes, FF7 and FF8 were damn good. I thought FF9 was ok. not great, but not horrible either. What I really want to see is a Final Fantasy game with the Job System from FF5. and no, X-2 and XI don't count
Asarnil2005-11-30 04:26:59
I loved the sphere grid - it didn't allow you to max out your stats unless you sat there and planned out how many nodes you wanted of exactly each stat.
And pretty soon I will be playing FFVII and VIII - I didn't know they released PC versions of both of them until BitTorrent told me so.
Oh and Kingdom Hearts HURT - what they did to Tidus and Wakka's voice was just not cool, though Squall and Cloud did look awesome in it.

Same on grid.
And yes KH did.

Eh.. the second will own though. Plus they'll all be older so the voices should be close to "normal." They're using Cloud's voice from Advent Children in the Japanese version so.. can only hope for great VAs in the English.

Sphere grid annoyed me for the same reason materia and junction system annoyed me: Characters all end up pretty much the same, or conceivably can. This is the reason I'm playing a no-Esper FF6 game.

Potentially, yes.
Just dont make your characters the same, and build seperate roles for them..
Vow to not switch materia around (obviously annoying to keep track of during the numerous irritating times that materia is unslotted).
Arix2005-11-30 18:31:42
FF5 was the one with the job system, right? Either way, I want another game with that
Richter2005-11-30 18:53:00
I just saw some KH2 pics with Cloud and Squall back to back. Pick up the new issue of Game Informer!

Final Fantasy games have always been about telling a story, it's a big reason why the games are so popular.
Playing through FFX the first time was like watching a (really good) movie because of all the spoken dialog - 5000 lines acording to the bonus disk, which is more than what a lot of actual movies have.

I don't think I have what it takes to make a good action game. I prefer telling stories.

I do not want to see a remake of FF7. The game is perfect just as it is. Yes, the remade opening sequence PS3 demo was breathtaking and beautiful, but it would seriously ruin the game for a lot of people if it were remade. Look what happens when you mess with a good game and try to make it even better...you get FFX-2. *shudder*
Richter2005-11-30 19:57:38
No... X-2 was what happens when you take a good game, and make a halfhearted attempt at making the story longer, while mostly ignoring the main plot, and then to add insult to injury, you take out one of the best video game composers of all time and add some really terrible pop/techno.
FFVII needs to be remade, we don't need a sequel. All we need is a graphics upgrade, because all the gameplay is solid. Could use a music upgrade as well, but only because technology allows us to create better music than the PS1 had.
