I was just wondering, who would you consider the best role players in the basin. I of course am more focused on Glomdoring but here is an oppertunity to speak our minds of role playing in the basin as a whole. So who do you think are good role players?
Vix2005-12-02 02:51:49
Ever? The list will probably parallel this thread.

I'd have to say, Viravain and Elryn. Kalo's not bad, though he falls out of role from time to time. Gregori plays his role perfectly, though it seems like just the way he is OOC too, so I wouldn't call that good roleplaying, just being awesome
The best people are those who do not go out of their way to 'roleplay,' but instead just play their characters as their characters would act.

Um, no. I'm a shocker at developing a good role, Viravain is certainly amazing though.
Just getting in before everyone else points it out.
tsaephai2005-12-02 03:00:01
i don't think there's enough "average" people, most people always try to make something really distinct about them, instead of playing a rather bland character. of course, i try to play tsaephai as a rather average character(even if i didn't try to i probably wouldn't be very successful at it, heheh) and it's not as amusing, so i can see why most people have odd-like characters.
Shiri2005-12-02 03:01:59
I dunno, Nejii's not that special personality wise.
I'm comparing with the Kalos and Munsias of the world though.

I don't think I could pick anyone. We can't all have huge roles that get noticed by a lot of people. Some of the best roleplayers are those who just have an ordinary 'middle-class' character.
Unknown2005-12-02 08:41:43
IMHO, it's pretty hard to judge who's a good RPer.
You don't need to be "special" to be a good RPer, you just need to stick to your RP. If I have a conversation with you regarding the RP you want for your character, and then my character and yours meet, then I might be able to judge. If your actions are consistent and have the same reasoning behind them, then you're a good enough RPer for me.

I've honestly given up. If you see Kalo talking normal, it's because I'm tired of listening to people bitch and scream about my character acting like a two year old. If anyone points it out, I'll either polite tell them where they can shove it, or make some obscure hint that Kalodan's returned to possess the little faeling.
I'm not around much, anymore. More important things to do.

Who's him, Kalo? Must be somebody really interesting to take you away from lusternia
Nymerya2005-12-02 14:19:09
Nokraenom (Though I think this is partly due to the fact he chose an angle he possesses IRL).
Gerald. (He has much admiration from me.)
Josun. (From the little I've seen, the effort is appreaciated.)

I was called by a few people *gasp* a good roleplayer before, when my roleplay was a bit more in your face, and was assisted by gods every once in a while. I still stick to my role, but I don't do events around myself, and I haven't gotten a god to do something cool for a while.
I think some of the best roleplayers are the quiet ones, that just stick to thier character, not someone that acts all serious around an event, and then relaxes when no one is watching.
As an example, I was talking to Arhat once or twice, and I was more impressed with him than I have been in the entire course of the game, with some people. Why? Because he was normal. He lived in Dairuchi, hung out with Shimotabi, and had a life. I'd much rather hang out with this kind of person, than be around a nexus watching people hit each other and hear them say, "How much did that do?!"

Viravain by far.
Shayle. I have never seen anyone so stuck on themselves with power before. And I mean that in a good way.
Definitely Josun and Narses. They're the reasons I try so hard to roleplay my character as I do. I have to keep up with them.
Xenthos. The quiet warrior... At least, he seems to be. Always polite and chivalrous, but will kick your arse if he needs to.
Everyone in Glomdoring, aside from a small few, really strive for roleplay and immersion, and I really enjoy that. Thank you, Glomdoring!

Shayle's a goodun.
Ibby also.
There's more, but I'm bashing and can't be bothered to think.

Shayle's a weird one, she says stuffs in tells and on clans very openly but when it comes to says, she's very strictly RP.
Gwylifar was a great RPer too, had a lot of ideas for the Serenguards, unfortunately most of us were too lazy to follow through.
Malicia as well for what she does.
Daevos is also one of those people up there, he always keep his cool. The type of guy that speaks sofly but carries a big sword.

yeh agree with you there mate, Daevos is awesome in that way. He's also as gung ho as i am but doesn't shout about it...
Me, i'm egotistical and a genuine asshole to most people who are my enemy, and i'm even tough on my recruits so they do'nt feel left out. I've never claimed to be a good RPer, but I try my best to stick with what i've created, i dont think i go OOC much in says, and only in tells with these ones (()) around it.
Richter2005-12-02 19:58:43
Yeah, I love your RP. Though, we should totally try to work up the Caramon/Raistlin thing, that'd rock.
Verithrax2005-12-02 20:31:53
I don't know if I'm a good RPer or not. Verithrax is a complex character that sort of evolved; he didn't have much of a concept when I started out with him. There's a side of him that only people who talk to him personally get to know (He's a very bitter old man and a heavy drinker, but you can't tell that from CT and GT.). And then there's a better side of him that only Kivati and a few other people got to see.
My other character, Austeris, I probably roleplay better; he's absolutely rational and completely humourless, to the point that he simply doesn't get jokes and creeps out people.
As for who are the great roleplayers, I'd say Elcyrion, who has an interesting roleplay without overdoing it. (Because he manages to be serious ICly, and funny from an OOC perspective - take a look at that lovely, highly condescending post he did recently.)
I don't know about Viravain, I don't know Her. =( Maybe She could go visit the Walkers?
Elryn is a good roleplayer, although a bit quiet, despite the fact that Verithrax can't stand him.
