Currently, Angels explode upon entering Nil and Demons explode upon entering Celestia. This is nifty, and grants both sides a tactical advantage when defending against certain raiders. The only natural advantage, actually, so it's better than nothing.
On Ethereal, however, both Serenwilde and Glomdoring can (and do, in Serenwilde's case) tune totems and as many guards as they can support. This is far more handy than just disabling a handful of the opposing Guardian's skills.
Now, short of proposing a total overhaul of how off-plane defenses are handled, here's a proposition that will at least make the situation a bit more fair.
It is widely known that Cosmic and Ethereal energies, when mixed, lead to all sorts of nasty things. Wouldn't it make sense if Fae in Celestia or Nil would die? Something like...
'A leprechaun slumps over and lets out a heavy sigh before collapsing, his flesh turning pale as the buffeting cosmic energies erode his lifeforce.'
It would take ten to fifteen seconds or so to happen, or else it would be too much of a pain for either side to reach Astral.
How's that sound?

I don't like that whole exploding thing at all. It makes Guardians even more useless during a raid.
I'd so prefer leaving it as it was (no exploding), but empowering Guardians on their own plane.

I only dislike exploding due to the stupid message it gives.
'A hiderous archdemon suddenly explodes?'
Come on, we can do better than that! 'A hiderous archdemon screeches and clasps his head between his hands, body expanding outward and then exploding in a brilliant shower of light'.

Personally I think Gurdians are pretty useless skillwise anyway, but maybe that's just me..
I mean look at it that way.. Their Supernals or Demon Lords get slain.. and what can they do to fend of the attackers? With their pacts/pledges broken.. like.. nothing? (alsmot nothing, but still close)
They also suffer the worst from being rogue.

Demons and angels would then have to similarly disappear on Ethereal if Fae would disappear on Cosmic, right?
*shrugs* Ethereal and Cosmic don't mix well together, but not sure why they couldn't stand side by side? Not that I know much

The idea is fine. However, demons/angels should then explode on Ethereal
Unknown2005-12-02 23:19:15
An individual Angel or Demon is quite a deal stronger than an individual Fae, so they can survive better. Maybe weaken them a bit on Ethereal, lower their health or something.
Unknown2005-12-02 23:21:10
I agree with Narsrim and guido. Have fae die when they appear on Celestia/nil and have demons/angels die when they apear on ethereal

And the person who governs Faethorn is immortal unlike anything on cosmic so nyah.

How about making demons explode on elemental too?
Or maybe just everywhere except the home city?
I agree, we're quite pointless.

Hmm.
Fae draw strength from and support each other, so they can survive better. *sagenod*

If fae couldn't survive on the Cosmic plane and the appropriate spheres, then they couldn't convert fae to cherubs/imps.

I thought everyone forgot about that, fine no forest demenses in Celestia or Nil!
Unknown2005-12-02 23:34:18
When you bring a Fae with you to cosmic they are in your inventory, not following you. Wiccans can't pick their Fae up. Just make it so they are unaffected when you're holding 'em.
Acrune2005-12-03 01:16:55
I'd rather see celestines and nihilists boosted on Cosmic. I still find it rather irritating and strange that mages play a bigger role in defending the guardian's charge then the guardians themselves do.
Unknown2005-12-03 01:21:17
Is there -any- place or situation where mages don't play the biggest role?
Unknown2005-12-03 01:36:44

What?
Maeve is immortal. She cannot die.
All the Demon Lords can die. They just can be resurrected.
