Well, since I talked with Jack about it....does the critical level increase per level, or only at the three keylevels listed in HELP ARTIFACTS OFFENSIVE?
If the former, I would actually consider gathering for a medallion level 1, that's reachable now with Astral. But if the latter, it would only be really noticeable starting at a level 2, and I could never gather that many credits without using them for lessons first.

I actually have a question on the critical pendants. How do they work?
As far as I understand it, criticals are in tiers. Let's assume that at X level, you get 10% criticals. The 10% is then broken down into each type of critical. You have a higher chance of getting a plain critical than a obliterating critical, etc.
Thus, what does the pendant raise? Does it raise criticals overall, the lower tiers (which is what I have heard), etc?

From what my understanding is, let's say that 5/100 hits you do are criticals at level 50, 10/100 at level 60, 15/100 at level 70, and so on.
Based on that example, with a lv 1 medal, you'd do 7/100 at 50, 12/100 at 60, etc. Lv 3 medal would give 11/100 at 50, 16/100 at 60, etc.
So, essentially, for every hundred hits you do, you just get 2/4/6 more depending on which medal. Sounds like something I'm not going to buy anytime soon.

That's always how I've heard/seen it working. However, I've seen great successes at high levels+pendants.

Assume you have a 5% chance to get a critical hit. There's some type of random "roll" that happens, and if you get, say, 95-100 out of 100, you get a critical. If you get a critical, it rolls again. I have found that the lower the level of the creature your attacking is, the higher the critical hit you will get on it will be.
I often get world shattering on bats and wasps but almost never on gorgogs, and I hit gorgogs much more often than I hit bats and wasps.

even though all other things are linear, I think this one jumps at steps. Unless there is just a -larger- jump from 99% to 0%

Although I don't have as much data as Sudoxe, I've been counting my criticals as well from Level 77 to 78, both with a level 2 medallion:

Going by melanchthons study, and he seems to know his criticals well, the critical % rises only at the 3 key levels, 50, 65, and 80, BUT, once you hit level 80, it rises by 1% every level at the 50% mark. That would make decent sense, because at level 90 I pull around 27% critical hit ratio, and the level 80 crit states 16.8%, so add in 10% for my levels , and it seems to add up.

I'd have to say that's probably right. I've been keeping track of criticals now from level 54 to level 59, and they're basically the same ratios, with only a few abberations. Which annoys me to no end.

Bah, I'm going to have to get someone to send me that script. Mebbe I'll bug Kayne until he gives up and sends it to me.
And someone said it goes up at level 80, and as soon as I got level 80 I quit bashing for a while. I started a bit last night, and I did notice an increase in how many I was getting.
But from the way the critical medals were worded in the helpfile, it looked to me like since you'd be getting an extra 2,4,6/100, it would essentially tack on an extra 2/4/6% onto your chances after it factored in your normal critical-ness.

Below 80 it's not really worth even thinking about criticals, for reasons such as you'd be a lucky person to get one WSC before 76. That being said, it doesnt quite seem linear.
Before 90 I had 42-46% on average crits, out of a data pool of 10,000+ hits.
Currently at 92, my upper level crits appear much higher, on the order of 1.5 times more than before lvl 90, but my overall have dropped to around 35-40%.
I just reset my counter, so I'll post it later today most likely.
