From: Dranor, God of Imagination

Subj: Myrrh

You no longer need to eat myrrh before learning. All lessons will now be
used as if you automatically had the myrrh defence up.

This is not retroactive. You cannot be refunded any lessons. Don't ask.

Penned by my hand on the 13th of Naturalis, in the year 480 AD.

The people on Achaea's forums suggested it too. biggrin.gif

Aetolia changed that ages ago too. Myrrh was like the most pointless thing ever.
Manjanaia2005-12-20 19:11:41
Yeah what was the actual point of the whole myrrh learning stuff?
Richter2005-12-20 20:45:25
You could only learn one lesson at a time without it, it made it so that you could learn 1-10.

Lame idea.
Unknown2005-12-20 20:55:36
1-15, Richter. Not 1-10.

And it was a lame idea. It's like saying, "if you don't use this defense, you lose health. But this defense is so abundant, and can't be stripped, it's completely pointless anyway. But we're gonna make you do it for the fun of it."

We had a discussion about this, as mentioned, over on the Achaea board. It was determined that there really isn't any good point behind it.

To clarify a bit, having myrrh up would also increase the value of the lessons you learned. I've no idea if they were right, but one person said it was something like, learning 89 lessons with myrrh up would give the same skillrank as learning 100 lessons without. So if you forgot to eat myrrh you were actually flushing away your lessons.

EDIT: Also, it was only in the wayback days of Achaea that you could only learn 1 lesson at a time without myrrh. In modern time you could gladly learn the regular 15 at a time, without myrrh. Just that, they'd be worth less.
Richter2005-12-20 21:31:57
I think/thought it was 10 with myrrh on Aetolia.
Anumi2005-12-20 21:37:18
It is 10 in Aetolia. Didn't notice the initial post was from Dranor, hence Aetolia, since Achaea recently made this change as well.

Yea, I never got the point of Myyrh. I would have a point if it was rare and expensive and maybe doubled or tripled the amount of lessons learned. Other than that, it was quite pointless. Not to mention annoying as heck...when I last played I kept forgeting to eat some.

Originally Myrrh would use 3 lessons at a time, and rumored to give the effect as if you had used 5. It wasn't until MANY years later that it was changed to all you to use 1-10(or 15).
