AB KNIGHTHOOD PROTECT
Syntax: PROTECT (player)
The honour of your profession demands that you will protect your weaker allies from harm. While defending someone, you will take 1/4 of the damage from physical blows that they receive, and block the attacks of aggressive creatures.
A monstrous lobstrosity moves threateningly towards Jasper, but with a quick movement you place yourself in his way.
A monstrous lobstrosity cuts you deeply with his pincers.
Even without the damage, I'd like a way to stop aggressive creatures always hitting the weakest members of a group first.
I know this has been proposed before, but its something so simple that would be so useful.

Cool, but be nice if more than just Warriors could do it. Its been said by some of them that they feel they are more 'meatshields' to the magic users than anything else. So, perhaps in Knighthood yes, but also in Combat?
Sometimes magic users can be tankier than warriors, but usually the higher leveled magic users with a warrior..or less well trained one.

Except they don't hit the weaker member, they hit the last member to enter the room. You can do the same thing just by having Jasper lead and you follow, then they will all hit you.

Well, that isn't always feasible. Firstly it requires that the weaker member have an equal knowledge of the area, and know where they are going. Second, it means that if I have a means of escaping at the right time, the weaker member won't follow. Third, is experience still shared if the follower makes the kill?

Just asked for a skill in Knighthood which was interestingly enough called Protect. That would allow warriors to protect one person, and possibly divert some attacks aimed at that person onto themselves.

yeh i like the idea, i'd love to be able to shield a buddy of mine from harm while i lay on the smackdown.

100% attack deflection would be nice, like ALL melee attacks, well it'd be silly but funny to see 6 ur'guard protecting each other and no-one able to target the right person

Which is why it oculd be overpowered: you'd just DEFEND your hinderer whilst you lay the smack down. Noone can kill the hinderer and noone can kill you as they're being hindered.

Simple, either make it so defending only deflects a part of the damage, or reduce speed/damage/accuracy when you're defending.

Defend in Achaea only works on one target, and you absorb all the damage but not all of the time (I believe) and I don't believe you can defend someone that is defending another person.
