So, I got Dragonquest VIII for Xmas...woo great game so far, but what interested me the most was the playable Final Fantasy XII demo. I have to say I'm rather pleased with it so far for the little bit I got to play. Combat is COMPLETELY unique, though perhaps a bit hard at first until you can figure out the oh so horribly annoying camera...it's harder to control that Kingdom Hearts *twitch*. The characters, monsters, dungeons, etc are beautifully rendered and the music is fabulous. What amused me the most though was that in the first playable demo with three of the characters you had to fight your way across a beach to defeat a rockeater that looked like a giant TRex. I couldn't help but giggle while getting my tail stomped by this guy and thinking "Wonder who'll buy his corpse from me?".

Anyhoo...much fun, can't wait for the real thing.

Yeah, it's pretty good fun. I'm waiting for it too, but since Kingdom Hearts 2 is coming out in March it's taking all my attention.

Wha?? It's a nice change! Oh, and I love Dragon Quest too. Borrowing it from a friend even though I'm supposed to be buying it and it's great fun.

Looks like FF12, KH2, and TES4 might all come out in the same timeframe...

Nope, FF12 is only coming out in Japan in March. In other areas it'll probably be like.. August.

It's a given that it will be beautiful and have fabulous music. However, these aren't a great way to judge a game. Any major title is going to look and sound pretty, unless it's a major fluke. And even then, they're not that important. Many pretty games are crap, and many ugly games are great.

Hearing that it has an annoying camera just makes me even less apt to buy it, on top of the horrid changes I'm hearing they made to the combat system. I'm really hoping they pick up again with FFXIII and start improving the series again.

Why don't you just find the demo and play it?

HAHAHAHAHA. I got a nice chuckle out of that one. My local EB has begun to Pre-Sale KH2 about 4 times now, and had to refund the money each time. I'm beginning to think it is never coming out as it was Middle of 2005, then Dec. 2005, now March 2006...and they are already talking about pushing it back further. I have been waiting for this game for an eternity, but it seems to have numerous glitches they are trying to work out.

I'm stuck playing my old RPGs and Resident Evil 4 while waiting.

Don't listen to EB, they're just greedy. The series creator had originally planned for one big release, but unfortunately it wasn't possible so March is the target month. The game is supposedly huge anyway so I'm content with waiting, especially since I just bought KH back in June.

All the game needs is English voice acting and script translation, and with the money they're shelling out for the voice talent I'm sure it won't take them much longer. Better than waiting for Final Fantasy XII. I'm not even remotely interested in that anymore.

Oh my young friend, how confused you are. They wanted a December release and the producing companies were HAMMERING for that to happen...why?....Huge December rush with xmas. They got their hands on a copy of it and it failed in playtesting due to numerous crashes and glitches, so it was sent back. I'll try and find the article but they are already looking at pushing it back to Fall '06, in order to work out some more things. I'm tempted to learn Japanese and buy it from there, as I think I could do that faster than it will be out in the US.

We'll see. Won't be surprised if I get an IM in March saying "OMG KH2 ROCKS!"

And if it doesn't come out then I'm wrong and oh well.

What is the release date for FFXII? Also, are there any good RPG series that they are adding onto anymore...I played Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts:Covenant, which quickly became some of my fave RPGS. Any other decent ones out there, now that they resurrected Dragon Warrior.

Nope. Unless you want to play the new Wild ARMs remake. Magna Carta came out in November too, but I haven't had a chance to touch that.

Eh.. a Tales game is coming out in Feb and they're always okay. Wild ARMs 4 is coming out sometime this month, but that may be iffy as well.

Final Fantasy XII.. I'm leaning towards an August - October release, but I stopped caring awhile ago. I've seen "August," but I don't remember one coming out so early since FF7.
