Currently, one of the only places for high level Influencers to do their stuff is the Tosha Monastery, as opposed to the multiple number of places for high level bashers to hunt. As such, over the last week I've been thinking. The Tosha Monks talk about enlightenment, but the only real way to achieve this 'enlightenment' is via killing creatures. Enlightening? That's argueable.
Now, this enlightenment is offered to the hunters in a place that is mostly peaceful and calm. Seems unreal. However, I would not presume to ask for the blessing to removed for hunters, since so many depend and use it that it may cause uproar. For those that do not know, the Tosha blessing gives a 20% boost to health, mana, and ego for one IG month.
What I would suggest as a possible increase the both the areas Influencers have specifically for their way of gaining experience, karma, and gold and a solution to only violent people being rewarded within a peaceful monastery. I offer two solutions/ideas:
Idea 1:
Remove the ego blessing from the violent Tosha blessing. Most who bash use mana and health over ego. I am not forgetting about forcefield mages, but they have a boon enough as is. Most forcefield mages are races with high charisma. Alongside this, they can boost it with a Beauty blessing(+2), Netzach(+1), Throne(+2). This would bring Merian to 20 charisma, so forcefield would double their potential health. It brings Viscanti to a slightly lower 17, but they have larger constitution to fall back on if the forcefield fails. I believe this is more than enough to deal with, without needing the extra 20% ego from Tosha to survive.
Beside this, you would add an influencing-only way to gain the single ego blessing. To gain the blessings of the four monks, you might have to beat them in some form of influence(stronger than their normal influence strength.) At any rate, it should be as easy to get the blessing peacefully as it is to get the blessing violently.
After that, we come to the actual final task. Perhaps the same area could be used, but when you enter, Quettle calls down Eroee upon the Tosha Pits, forcing influence to be used to get the Scroll of Enlightenment. When you return the scroll, you would get the single +20% ego blessing, lasting 25 days. This would be an acceptable change, but may peeve some Forcefield mages off.
Idea 2:
Leave the blessings as they are, but offer two ways to complete it. One by collecting the corpses of the rocs/spiders/sharks/rockeaters, and one via influence.
Then create two versions of the Tosha Pits, or two seperate continents on the Spirit Plane. The first is already built, the one with aggressive spirits. The second could be one with peaceful spirits, ones who will not attack on sight, but may start influencing on sight. A possibility would be to have the spirits follow you when you beat them with influence, and Quettle asks that you return all spirits to him so they may finally rest in peace, or somesuch. Completing this would earn you the same blessing as aggressive. +20% health/mana/ego. These would not stack, so you would not be able to do the aggressive one, then the peaceful one for a 44% increase to health/mana/ego. They'd be the same blessing, but available to both pacifist and hunter.
Thoughts? Questions? Comments? Criticisms?
It'd still be nice to have another large area that's strictly all influence, of similar strength to Astral/Catacombs.
