Since I am not sure if this is a bug or not, I figured I would post it here.
Ok so currently, the pk system works like this..I want to kill bob, so, I declare and attack bob, mary then defends bob and helps bob defend against me, I kill bob then after kill mary. As it currently stands I get suspect on both Bob and Mary. But I don't beleive the system should be this way, if Mary defends bob, she forfiets her right to gain suspect if she dies to me or anyone defends me. Is this a misweave? Thoughts?

If Mary is going to try and kill you by defending and was not your intended target, she shouldnt get status on you; if she does that's a bit retarded as she is throwing herself into a fight she wasnt involved in, then lost.

Seems ok for me.

It works as intended then.
Although, there might be a problem with it because DECLARE works for 5 minutes as far as I know. Which means if Torak backs off and leaves, those who defended can now pursue him, or even meet him in another situation already within those 5 minutes and get a free kill on him and he can't even defend himself (kill those who attack him).
Is that correct?

Ok, how this works is:
I attack/declare BOB
Mary uses DEFEND BOB
Mary and bob proceed to attack me
I kill Bob
Mary continues attacking me
I declare Mary because otherwise I have to leave, or let her beat on me
I kill Mary, Mary now has suspect
The way it should be working is if Mary defends Bob, I shouldn't have to declare Mary to defend myself against her. She should give up her right of gaining suspect if she dies/I don't have to declare to attack.
EDIT: So to answer your question yes, they can pursue me in the time of defend and get a free kill, or if I defend myself I risk getting suspect.

Still seems ok for me.
You want immunity so you could not be chased for your attack??

No, I want to be able to attack Mary and defend myself against her without getting suspect.

But it's you who are attacking under Avenger - Mary just wants to help Bob not to die. You decide to DECLARE. Why would you want to kill Mary anyway - you DECLARED Bob, she's just defending him. If they kill you, it's self-defence. If you succeed and kill Bob, you got what you wanted in the first place and can leave.
The only problem I can see is what I described - another situation within those 5 minutes, she can still get a free kill on you. It seems to me that declaring timeframe should be shortened perhaps.

No, Mary under her own freewill decided to help Bob, yes you should help your allies but you should run the risk of dying too. To have someone able to attack you while you can't do anything is wrong.
EDIT: From what I understand DEFEND was made so you don't gain suspect from defending your friends, it wasn't meant to let you attack someone for 5 minutes risk free.

No, Mary could still kill him without gaining suspect. He wants it so that if Mary chooses to defend Bob, then Mary loses her right to get suspect on him since she chose to attack. As it would seem now, defending doesn't really give you anything to lose, because if Mary killed Torak she wouldn't get suspect. However, after Torak kills Bob he now has the choice of running away from Mary or getting a second suspect because Mary has free reign to attack him.
edit: Boy the topic moved quickly since I typed that. My post is in response to Ekard.

Code it so that if the person you're defending dies, you lose defend status.
I mean, there is no point in defending a corpse and if you're attempting to get revenge then that is something that the avenger does take notice of and therefore the person should now have to declare.

What about the auto defending when someone attacks guards? If it was the way you want, wouldn't the person slaying guards get free kills on those who defend their city?
Damn is this system confusing.
It actually sounds good to me, but does it solve all the problems?

It would solve most the problems, but I would prefer if the defender didn't gain status if they are slain.

I agree wholeheartedly with you here Torak
DEFEND X should allow free attacks between both the defender and attacker, and no status should be gained on either, becuase in a since both of the players are saying they wanna fight, so there should be no worry of griefing etc. Therefore neither should get suspect...

I can agree with that as well. If I'm violent enough to try to kill you to leave Bob alone then Avechna doesn't need to protect me. If you're attacking me or the one I'm defending then you've proven your desire for violence as well: Avechna can leave us alone.
Leave Avechna for those who aren't violent at all. People who are defending guards are still safe since killing in enemy terrtiory never brings status (just fix the whole "Oh I'm out of enemy territory..oh I died..haha vengeance" matter).
