I think it's great that so many new players are coming into Lusternia, many of them complete newbies when it comes to MUDs as far as I can see. I'm just curious though, has IRE stepped up its advertising? I know a couple months ago advertising was increased and we got a heap of novices then, but it seems another surge is coming through at the moment.

Or, could our jump to #3 on TMS have caused it?

Yeah I guess it had its effect. #3 is damn high.

But would people completely new to MUDing be looking at TMS? tongue.gif

That is how I found Lusternia and this is pretty much my first MUD.

Well.. My 'first' mudding was odd.
A friend of mine introduced me to achaea I met a friend in achaea who had a friend in Lusternia and she wanted me to try it too so then I got hooked since I hated achaea and novicehood was only 24 hours here ninja.gif

Yeah, I read about mudding somewhere and checked out TMC. Achaea was the first one I played, but I hated the dynamic. Loved the concept, hated the dynamic. When I started looking at things nearby, Lusternia was the next one that caught my eye. I kinda have a thing for religion/philosophy, and the cosmology of Lusternia is -amazing-. So I wouldn't be too surprised if first-time players found us through our rank.

I started playing aetolia which I picked from an alphabetical list of mubs, just started at the stop and starting playing till I got bored of the mud, stuck with aetolia for ages, got fed up with the giant war with two cities and all the forestals against the 8 people who were in ashtan, moved to achaea after actually learning IRE made other games, stuck with it for ages then game to lusternia.

Ahh i remeber that war, it was funny times. But soon after i stop playing there. And few months later Lusternia opened up, so i'm here.

I've heard rumours that this is why it was called Aetolia and Achaea, though I have never known for sure...

I just got bored with world of warcraft one day and started searching for MUD's to play. I never played a MUD before as I got into online gaming when Everquest came out. However I started getting pain in my left wrist while playing games so I thought maybe it was time to take a break. This was over a week ago and I have to say I'm hooked. I haven't even turned on WoW in a whole week! The reason I chose Lusternia is because my best friend just picked it from a random list of MUDs based on the fact that it is heavily pvp based.

I have to say the learning curve is pretty steep when picking up a MUD like this one for the first time. The guides in Lusternia were tremendously helpful as well as my guild. I want to say thankyou so much for being so very helpful to me. My first character started in Serenwilde and found it unfriendly and rather dull so I restarted a new character and joined Glomdoring. I found the players in Glomdoring so very helpful and such great roleplayers that I was hooked! I feel bad for my best friend, he's in the paladin guild and he's struggling daily, basically has no idea what's going on. I keep telling him to leave and join the Ebonguard, he would be much happier.

I have to say we're both enjoying this game. In fact he told a co-worker that we both have the same problem. We keep imaging up these elaborate pictures while playing. biggrin.gif We both described what finks look like to this guy and while there technically is a great description when probing a fink we still have very different ideas of what they are. I love all of the descriptions in this game, it's like candy. I love taking my time and reading through everything. You guys have done such a phenomenal job with this game!

Just point your firend to me, i will help him in what he need.
Or just tell him to ask on GNT/Gt for more info.
Unknown2006-01-11 19:03:53
Yeah but I'd really like to convert him biggrin.gif

But, I did tell him you're willing to help and he says that you are the only person that has ever attempted to help him.

That's how I found Achaea. I was looking up Rpgs on google and found one of those top mud things.

angry.gif Not angry at you, angry at us. Would you mind PMing me the guild you joined and the problems you faced in Serenwilde? I'd like to inject some life back into Serenwilde but it won't happen if we bore away our novices.
