As the title says, I'm new to Lusternia, starting out life in Glomdoring. After playing other MUDs for multiple years, this is my attempt to start something new. I'd be incredibly thankful if someone could give me advice how to make the best posible start, get others to notice me and actually join in some roleplay?

The way to make the 'best possible start' for you, in my opinion, is to just start playing. Talk to people, advance in your guild, ask a lot of questions, or whatnot - whatever feels right to you. The way to 'actually join in some roleplay' is simple - just roleplay. It really is that simple.

That's a relief, I've been to other MUDs where novices like myself were simply ingored in roleplay settings.

Thats bound to happen anywhere. If it happens here (people are just busy sometimes) find someone in your city or commune to ask. There are also guides for helping novices. There are certainly many would would be willing to help you.

Find a mentor. If you can get a hold of a really good one (I'd suggest talking to candidates to see who you'd get along with best and keep an eye for ones around during the same times as you), things are bound to be lots easier.
And welcome to Lusternia!

Welcome to Lusternia, and more importantly, welcome to Glomdoring! Good choice!

Well, to get others to notice you, I'd suggest maybe getting a communerank or guildrank or two, maybe a quest or two under your belt (major quests show on your player profile), that kind of thing. That way your guild knows you, your commune knows you, and when someone goes to look at your profile, they don't see the same thing as they would have seen when you created your new character.
To join in some roleplay, just act within your character's behavioral patterns. If you want to get involved with mid level roleplay, go hang out with a group of people and see what happens, and if you want to get involved in worldwide roleplaying, wait until the gods initiate something, then rush off to see what happened.

Getting started... Hmm, cherish that time you have in the Newton Caverns and make as much gold as you can before you get booted out of there. It helps alot when you have to go out to the "real world" and start buying equipment. Also gives you some practice.
To get noticed, just start talking to people eg When others ask "How is everyone/How are you?", make it a point to answer. Or else we'll all assume you're quiet or forget you're even there.

First things first complete you guild tasks, doing them will benefit you and get your guild to notice you, starting hunting pr questing with people is a good way to meet new friends as well. See if theres anyone from the commune or your guild in newton at the same time as you and ask them to work together
