Alright, so, since I've been now introduced to PvP fighting, I'd like to say something, and aska couple of question.

Say something: I just want to thank the admins for the great job they did on PvP. It seemed fun, and even though I died like 10 times, I actually enjoyed it.

Questions:

1. Other than running away, how to stop a wisp?

2. Other than running away, how exactly am I supposed to counter demesne effects? Do they have seperate defenses?

3. What DOES factor into breaking demesnes?

4. How exactly am I supposed to keep track of all the effects hitting me at the same time?

Thanks in advance.

I'm tired so I don't want to answer these directly. But all the things you asked have been answered in previous threads, try browsing some.

1. You can't - you have to move.

2. Read a protection scroll - grants immunity to some of the effects, until the mage dissolves it (s/he has to be in the same room as you to do that). And drink a love potion - if the enemy is in the same room, the potion will force them to add you to the ally list, and demesnes hit only enemies.

3. You can't break a demesne's room if it:
-is the center, and there are still other demesne rooms (I think)
-it will cause the demesne to split in two

4. Use automated trigger systems. Ethelon's free one is decent, if you have nothing else.

1. Wisp can only be used in a forest. To cancel it, you must leave the room. There is no other method to prevent other than summoning resistance.

2. Demesne effects have one small counter, protection scrolls. These are made by Bookbinders and can be enchanted. However, this defense is easily taken down when you are up against the mage/druid face-to-face. Aside from this, the counter would be curing the specific effects. For example, swarm in Druidry gives paralysis. The cure would be focus body, etc.

3. Illusionary terrain (removed with realitycheck or cancel illusions) and saplings (removed by chopping with an axe or mulching) prevent a demesne room from being broken. Aside from this, the general demesne rules apply:

A demesne cannot be broken in a room where it would cut the demesne into two or more unlinked pieces

CODE
Example:

A-B-C-D
    |
    E-F
       |
       G

Assume you had a meld of 7 rooms as positioned above. Points A, D, and G are the ONLY rooms that can be broken.

4. To keep track of the effects, you need a client that allows you track and heal them. The most common client is Zmud although there are several others out ther like MUSH, MM2K, Wintin, etc. Once you have a client, you need scripts that track/cure for you. These typically take a very long time to develop (although the best system you will ever have is something you build for yourself). Some people like Thorgal sell their systems, which are fairly automated.

A tiny addendum to Narsrim's rule on breaking demesnes: you can't break any room that would seperate something from the center. It's a very trivial difference unless you're breaking a loop. You can't move the center itself if it has two melded rooms next to it.

He asked what I think are fair questions for someone new to Lusternia and this snotty answer is not appropriate. If you don't have the time or the energy to invest in answering the questions, don't bother posting something like this. Your chances of finding specific answers to specific questions in a thread about demesnes is slim to none. You will likely encounter posts about people complaining - which won't help you are all.

Narsrim: Thanks so much, you've been awesomely helpful. And that thing you used against me while I was in dreamform was something from Low Magic, right?

I've always wondered how in the world the rules for demesne breaking goes. It never made any sense to me before.

One thing you missed about protection from demesnes: put up a shield: circle or pentagram. When you have a shield up demesne effects don't hit you. Just thought I'd point that out.
