Since this forum is the "best fit" for it, I figured I should ask this question.
Since we have people working on character artwork, or choosing art from another source, I was just wondering what mental "voices" you use for a character's speech when playing the game. I'm sure you have internal voices you use.
Here are some of mine.
Arix: Christopher Lloyd.
Daevos: James Earl Jones.
Murphy: Paul Hogan--he lets a little of his Aussie accent in his character sometimes, so I see a little of that.
Roark: Morgan Freeman.
Balizar: Maurice LaMache--famed voice actor, doing a voice similar to his "brain" from Pinky and the Brain.
Ialie: Lisa Ortiz (Anime voice, did Slayers and Record of Lodoss War)
Isune: E.G Daily (famed voice actress, does Tommy Pickels and Buttercup from Powerpuff girls, also had a minor pop hit in the 1980s)
Richter: Tony Jay (You may not know this guy--he's a character actor, he was at the begining of twins, was Paracelus in the TV show Beauty and the Beast).
Syntobis: Billy West. (I hear him doing the little accents he does)
Nymerya: Wendi Lee (Another Anime voice, famed for people like Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop).
Verithrax: Alan Rickman (famed actor, most notable to modern audiences for Snape in the Harry Potter films).
Viravain: Terri Brousis: She did SHODAN for System Shock 1/2, the Slyphs in the original Freedom Force, and Viktoria in the Thief series.
Tully: If Jackie Vernon could do a combination of Cajun and Irish accents (huh?), he would be it. (If you don't know this guy, think of the original Frosty cartoon).
Any of you have any ideas?

Jack - Ian McDiarmid (when he's doing that stupid voice-quavering thing)
Kymir - Christian Bale (Patrick Bateman style!)

Penelope2006-01-28 22:22:55
For Penelope I'd have to go with Tara Strong. She did Rikku's voice in Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2...and now that I think about it Penelope is pretty Rikkuish.

Torak2006-01-28 22:22:57
Torak - Cartman.
Joli2006-01-28 22:52:39
Whoever does Sasami in the anime Tenchi needs to do Joli...but I'm too lazy to look up her name right now.
Arix2006-01-29 02:08:01
As much as I like Cristopher Lloyd, I can't picture him with an Irish accent.
The voice actor for Arix would be Ardal O'Hanlon, from My Hero. If you don't get BBC, just Google it.

Kurt - Robert smith from The Cure
Shayle - That girl who played the main female in "Labyrinth"
Xenthos - The voice of the colonel from ROBOTECH, yknow the guy who was like the captain of the SDF-1
Daganev - Brad Pitt's impression of a 'Pikey' from SNATCH, though in deeper tones
Lyco - Spike from Cowboy Bebop
Drayde - The guy who did the voice of "Hige" in Wolf's Rain

Ya know, don't just think of yourselves, think of the mental voices you'd apply to other characters as well. ;-)
Jack2006-01-29 03:17:26
Guido - South Park's high-voiced Hitler.
Kahazul - Jack Nicholson.
Torak - Uh.. going to have to say Cartman, too.
Nokraenom - Someone insanely 1337. If Jesus was around and an actor, he would play Nok.

We already had this topic somewhere.
I think it was decided Nejii would be whoever plays Darth Vader. (Can't remember why.) The actor would be gizmo.

Do you mean the english voice actor, or the Japanese voice actor, cause you know, the Japanese one is so much better then the English. Then again, basically all of the Japanese ones are.

Whoa... That makes me think of Verithrax on a whole new level. Come to think of it, he does sound horribly cynical and depressed sometimes. (I hope you mean cynical and depressed Alan Rickman like on H2G2, not creepy Alan Rickman like on Harry Potter)

Actually I picture city-people with a British accent (The Magnagorans are more Cockney-ish) while Commune people have an Irish accent. Since Verithrax is originally from a city, he's allowed a British accent. Although Arix did spend five minutes in Serenwilde.

He spent quite a bit longer than that.
But IRISH? Heck no. English all the way in communes!

That's because most of the stuff about fairies that gets thrown into fantasy games is associated to Irish mythology. Hell, you wiccans get leprechauns, don't you?

Druids are mostly British mythology, and there are parts of Lusternia that come from all over the world. The Light seems like the Church so thus shouldnt born Celestians or raised Celestians have an accent hat goes to the region that was once the Roman Empire and the beginnings of that religion? (It does seem very much like it, no one else may get that). Taint..um..no idea really what that reminds me of, Glomdoring just more pagenish religions like witches.
Jack2006-01-29 15:49:01
Magnagorans? Cockney?
Are you on crack?
All Magnagorans get those super-suave secret-agent style voices. Except Torak and Daevos. Torak gets Cartman and Daevos gets Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Murphy2006-01-29 16:33:59
See i don't hear Daevos as Arnie.
I really hear daevos as Darth Vader played byjames earl jones, he didn't speak too much and when he does it sounds cool.
As murphy, paul hogan is a funny one i haven't heard that before. Mix a bit of steve erwin's excitablity in there and i reckon thats murphy to a T
Shikari, I hear Mr T to an extent without the whole pity the fool thing, he talks so tough my favourite god atm.
Daganev, Sylvester stallone.
